Is my APAP on the way out???

Post by Tumbleweed » Thu Dec 20, 2007 4:53 pm

Odd thing last 2 nights. Wake up in the AM and my brand new HEPA filters are BLACK!!! Tonight I even checked my intake filter and IT had a sooty look to the INSIDE surface. Anyone ever see this before? I think some bearings or something are going bad, maybe? S8 Vantage not quite 2 years old, btw. Going to have to contact DME tomorrow, I guess....ack!

Was it one of the recalled machines?

Were you aware that ResMed had a massive recall of machines earlier this year?

EDIT: Here's a link with the info, courtesy of Rested Gal.

According to that list, my machine is NOT in the recall. Talked to Resmed a bit ago and they said it definately needs service and that it MAY still qualify for the recall. Guess we'll see! In the meantime, I still have to use it, as it's way too late for me to get a loaner tonight. I do not need this right now, as I'm scheduled for a lumbar fusion on Jan. 10th, and the tech figured I wouldn't have a machine back by then. I HATE dealing with loaner equipment......

If it is under 2 yrs old, it should be no problem. I had trouble with mine (Respironics) on a Wednesday and notified the Internet provider and they had me a recertified machine Monday. That was 5 days and part of that was 2 days weekend. You said you have until Jan. 10th, which is plenty of time...check and see, it may be worth it.
