First FF Mask (Quattro)

Post by SleepGuy » Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:55 am

The head cold I had all last week finally did me in. I woke up the other day and thought "why on earth haven't you at least tried a FF mask?"-especially since I have good insurance that will buy me a new mask every 6 months.

I just picked up a Quattro at my DME and will try it out tonight. They pressurized it for me and it fit well, no leaks, and was comfortable (except for the Alvin the Chipmunk effect). I think I'm going to like this.

Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

Good luck, Sleepguy. If you find that you do get leaks, I highly recommend Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone earplugs. No, not for your ears! LOL

You can break them apart and make a little flat rope that will fasten to the mask and kills leaks great while letting you keep the mask loose.

I too recently tried a full face mask..... Who would have thunk it, I like it very much. I am going to try the quattro on my next eligibility, or through trade which ever comes first . I am liking the Ultra Mirage for now. Good luck and give me a recomendation either way as soon as you form an opinion.

Richard

Hi Sleep Guy, I love my quattro and I don't have problems with leaks. I hope yours is good too.

SleepGuy, I think my husband might do better on the Quattro than he is doing with the Hybrid so I would be interested in your opinion after you try it out.

Thanks,

SleepGuy,

I switched to the Quattro about a month ago (for the winter) and like it. It did take some tweaks before it was really usable for me but my DME got me some "loaner" masks to try before that and none of the others came close. I ended up putting a bit of silicone putty (Mack's) in the top part of the hard plastic portion of the mask to avoid really bad red areas on my nose. Also added a padacheek and then finally did the silicone putty "string" around the cushion.

Since then I think it's almost there. I'm still planning to add some kind of stabilizing strap to avoid leaks when I switch to side sleeping. However, even without that my leaks are fairly minimal now.

Mindy

I am on my second Quattro. Nothing really wrong with the first one but the DME says it was time for a replacement 96 months) anyway, BOTH have been great zero problems with leaks or anything else. I would not even want to try a different FFM

I can't get the Quattro to work for me at all. It leaks into my eyes no matter what I do, and when I lie on my left side (like I always do) it digs into my right cheek. Tried a large first, have a medium now. Gave up on it completely. Now I'm searching for the next one to try.

I just finished six months on mine due to get a new one soon (six month replacement) hope they got the swivel leak fixed on the new one. If not i will pull out the old teflon tape again.

I made it about half way through the night and although I really liked it, I ended up switching back to the Auctiva for some better sleep. No extra dryness (I turned up the HH about 25%). It fits great, no leaks or problems in particular. It just took some getting used to--after all these years using only the Auctiva. It's a bit more weight and I woke up a few times. It's a nice easy "fail safe" against mouth breathing (which I wonder about from time to time) and no doubt I will use it next time I have a cold.

How do you deal with the Chipmunk Cheeks? The airflow rather easily opens my mouth and puffs my cheeks out (inside the mask, no leaks). My pressure is 9, which is relatively light.
