Tsk! It rains here. Big deal!
Must be a slow news week..... What, no senators looking for love in all the wrong places?
Yeah, rivers flood when it rains.
I'm no where near any rivers, too far from the beach to worry about Tsunami's, not in the path of the Lahar, and I rarely lose power.
I'm a lucky girl!

Okay, clearly I'm clueless... Haven't watched the news in days - been too busy. Watched last night. HOLY TOLEDO! I-5 is CLOSED for at least the next few days!!!! I had no idea! Chehalis is completely underwater!
Pierce county (where I live) really didn't get hit by this storm, but I've NEVER seen this: SCHOOLS CLOSED FOR FLOOD. They were running school closure lists for all over the state due to flooding!
Wow! No wonder it hit the national news! Okay, it's not Katrina, but apparently it's significant.
Jules is in the danger zone. Anyone heard from Jules?
Stay dry out there, if you can!!!! Holler if you need a place to crash!!!!

Report about Jules....
Jules called me and is doing fine. Has no power, no heat, house is at 57 F today, but doing fine. No idea when power will be restored. No way to cook. No CPAP!!!
Not in the flood zone, but sure had wind Sunday night.
The worst thing for Jules is.... no power yet.
I was glad to hear Jules is ok.

Laura, tell Jules I'm serious. I'm 2 hours north, but I have heat and lights and power for CPAP and room for him, wife, and a fenced yard for pets.
I don't want to post my info here though, and I can't login. 6ptstar knows my offline email addy and cell phone number. He has my permission to give them out to you and/or Jules.
Thanks for the update, and please pass the invite on!

Neither. But I do live in the "COPS" capital of the Northwest.
You know, the TV show where cops ride around and arrest really lame people for doing stupid stuff? Seriously, if my neighborhood isn't on COPS every other night, I'm Richard Nixon....
And it IS a rental. Someone died in the other half of the duplex, so no doubt it's haunted. And that's not grout in the tub, it's MILDEW posing as grout. And there's a ballpark in my backyard, so HOARDS of screaming soccer players and their moms like to camp out on the other side of my backyard fence at 6 am on Saturday mornings and blast me out of bed...
My revenge? I get up in my usual alltogether and head directly to the kitchen for coffee. I do not have kitchen curtains. The kitchen faces the ballfield.
Scares the crap out of them. Particularly the nubile soccer moms...
LOL,
Babs

I'm glad at Food Services of America the WA State Patrol cut us a break by eventually letting us pass through where other trucks and cars were barricaded out.
I'm glad we sell Attends and food and not balloons!

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regrets; for I am far surer of what is kind, than I am of what is true.
What are "Attends"? Sorta like Depends?
I heard a secret passage just opened up for the over weight trucks tonight.
I've got a guidance counselor stuck down there, and no one's heard from her, and not only are we worried about her and her family, we're worried about her kids at school who need help. Luckily we can pitch in there at school, but I wish she'd check in with us.
Haven't heard from Jules. Hopefully he's gone to a friend or relative. His whole county is without power.
It's so great the people who are pitching in. A boy scout troop has outfitted a bus as an emergency feeding station and went down there to feed 1500 people. Can you imagine? What great kids!!!! And my knitting store is wrangling the grandmas to cough up all the afghans they can spare for the poor homeless folks in shelters in Lewis County (the one that's mostly underwater right now).
I feel bad I just quit Search & Rescue and they're stretched so thin running all over the storm area, AND doing rescues up in the avalanche zone. but there's just no way I can find the energy to work 12 hour days at work and do SAR all night too. And I just can't get away from work these days. My homeless student count is 180 as of today.
Ah well, persevere as my OL says!!!
Huggers,
Babs

Alive - no cpap for 5 nights. Regained power about 114 hrs 5 min after losing it on Sunday night. Not all of the county is back on power yet and the county to the south (Pacific one that borders Oregon) is in bad shape too. The Coastal Oregon counties are also devastated.
We didn't get the rain a lot of the area did so we didn't have flooding where I am, but we had winds. There where 126 mph gusts reported on the WA coast not far away from us and the big winds were sustained for 21 hours. Monday you couldn't get into I5 for love or money it seems and even Tuesday the path inland was pretty overloaded with downed trees, power lines, and water over the road.
Monday we were told 5 - 10 days to get power back. Thursday am we were told to expect power back Thursday noon - they aren't getting things restored very fast. Major feeder lines from Bonneville Power were knocked out including the big one feeding the county I live in. That wasn't put back online until midnight Tuesday night.
Babs - I have a BIL and his wife just behind you between Yelm and Rainier. It was tempting to go there as they didn't lose power for that long.
