Aussie Hose

Post by MichaelGettel » Wed Nov 21, 2007 5:34 pm

Hello from wet Seattle.
So, as some of you know, I'm a newcommer to all this and posted a few questions, which have thoughtful, helpful answers from you. My primary difficulty over this first week has been rainout, as some nights were impossible to wear the mask either becuase of fear of drowning or the crazy whistling noises all the condensation made.

My Aussie Hose came today, and I'm looking forward to it solving this problem. For any users, can you give me any assistance or advice regarding its use? There are no settings, so I guess I just plug it in when I mask up. My humidifier is currently set on very low heat (due to the rainout). Should I turn it up a notch?

Any help as always, is greatly appreciated. Hope your Holiday is everything wonderful and blessed.

Michael

Hello Michael,

Glad to hear you got your Aussie hose!

Just a few things I'm aware of (and I'm sure others will add!)

1. the end of the hose closest to the connector the the power supply is the one that hooks up to the machine
2. I've heard that it matters in which direction the plug is placed in the receptacle. Luckily I got it right the first time so I'm not quite sure how to describe this. From another forum member ... one way is to plug it in and put hose in a plastic bag and it will feel warm quickly.

I just plugged it in and air coming into my nose felt like "normal" room temperature instead of from a refrigerator.

Even though the plug doesn't have the polarized ends, I happened to plug mine in as follows: if you hold the rectangular piece with the plug so that the 2 plug pieces are away from your palm and then in that position, put and the receptacle placed so the larger hole is on the left, you should have it the right way..... that's probably not very clear but I don't know all the technical terms to get to more precisely!

Good luck!!

Mindy

Oops - forgot: Yes, you do just plug it in. I don't know what others have done .. on my Respironics M series with built-in humidifier, I set it at 2 or 3.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you, too.

I'm still awaiting receipt of my Aussie hose--hoping to receive it next week.

Wondering if anyone knows how to track Australian mail shipments. They emailed my tracking number, but so far I've had no luck when I input the number into their mail system, even though it was shipped last week.

Plug it in and mask up. You may want to start the HH at level 2 and work your way up each night to find the suitable level.

I’ve put mine on a timer so that it is not on all the time. Others here state that they leave their hose on all the time. So it is up to you how you want to work that. I want to extend the life of the hose as much as I can.

Seattle is a relatively cool place so you may be okay to use it year round. Here in Colorado I swap it out with the regular hose in the summer because it is hot enough to avoid rain out without it.

As I recall I gave up on tracking my hose.
