Guys & Gals - Septoplasty Surgery is TOMORROW MORNING! :

Post by SleepyNoMore » Mon Nov 19, 2007 4:34 pm

Well, the time has finally come for my Septoplasty Resection & Inferior Turbinate Surgery OUCH ! I won't be able to use my cpap machine for 3 to 4 weeks I guess, I haven't asked the Doctor about that yet, ! I have to call this evening to get the exact time to check-in in the morning. Wish me luck and please, the ones that PRAY, Please say a PRAYER for me, I really appreciate it. I know it's not supposed to be that big of a deal but the only thing that really bothers me is that they are going to break my nose and then there's the gel packing that they said would slide down the back of my throat (yuck) gag-gag... Take care of yourselves while i'm off the forum and i'll post when i'm feeling better and i'll also post my experience for the one's that are getting ready to get the same surgery. By Guys & Gals I'm gonna miss all of you people

Bet it's alot less of a big deal. I had the septoplasty and it wasn't bad at all. Main thing is TAKE IT EASY longer than you think you need to.

Thank You JeffH, I will try my best to take it easy, I seem to get kind of hyper every now and then, lol... My husband took off work for 1 week to help me out, awwww how sweet is that ???

I will have correction of a double deviated septum and turbinate reduction on the 27th. I hope you will give us a report on this thread as soon as you are able.

Best of luck.

That's my prediction, and I'm stickin' with it!

JeffH,

I have seen you say that before. Did you have a problem from overdoing it?

What is the danger? Bleeding? Failure of the bones to mend properly?

Right now I feel like I will be gung ho to get going soon after my surgery on 11/27. In fact I want to go out of town on the 30th as soon as the doc pulls the packing out and then go out of town again on 12/7.

Oh I am just now seeing that post. I don't get to read cpaptalk so much anymore because of an unfortunate experience. I have been working part time for two years. Recently I applied for an interesting part-time job with a different company. Well, the president of the company got involved and insisted I take a different full-time job on his staff. So I am out of my semi-retirement. .

Seriously, I did land a fun and interesting job. It is an entirely different field for me at the age of 58. I need to get this surgery behind me and get my AHI down so I can do a good job for the guys. It is difficult learning a lot of new stuff and new people and keeping it all straight when you can't breathe and sleep at night.

Good Luck SleepNoMore,
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and sending good, healing thoughts your way. How sweet of your hubby to take that time off. Milk it for all its worth!
Try to relax. It will all be over before you know it. As soon as you're up to it, let us know how you're doing.

You better not. About 10 days after my surgery I picked up a couple of kind of heavy items and leaned over and my nose started bleeding. It bled non stop for three hours. Ended up in the ER getting it packed. A day later, my ENT took the packing out and the next night at midnight, the bleeding started again. Another three hours in the ER in the middle of the night. That time the ENT doc left them in for 6 days. Talk about miserable.

BTW, these are nose bleeds like you've never seen.

Also, since I'm one of the uninsured, I am now on the 5 year payment plan to the hospital.

Now, you gonna re-think that trip?

JeffH

I had this done a few months ago and am SO glad I had it done. It wasn't comfortable for a few days but after that I could immediately breath better than I ever could remember. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery...
