Nose surgury -- CT scan?
Nose surgury -- CT scan?
I decided to take the plunge and signed up Nose Septoplasty/Turbinate Surgery. One thing I've noticed is that everyone seems to have a ct scan before. I asked my surgeon when it would be scheduled. He said he didn't need it, he could see what needed to be done. The question is should I be comfortable and relax, become concerned and ask again, or run like a bunny to another surgeon.
Thank you for any advice.

Someone here on the forum, it might of been Slinky or RestedGal "THEY ARE BOTH VERY WISE IN HELPING US TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS" as they have been through alot themselves, advised me to get a second opinion and I did! I am sure glad I listened because the 1st. ENT TOLD me that I was going to have UPPP, Tonsills removed, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction( and all at the same time ) ! I told him I had very small tonsills and he didn't commit, just handed me the brochures showing how the surgery looked and what they we're going to do to me. I went to another ENT and I said I will not have the UPPP or Tonsillectomy and he politely said OK! At the end of the appt., I asked him if he would have suggested the UPPP & Tonsils out, HE SAID NO! YOU DON'T need that done...... The first guy/doctor did make me have a CT SCAN so I just called the Imaging Dept., and had them fax the report to the new ENT! I will have my Septoplasty Resection and Inferior Turbinate surgery next tues. 11-20 if I get cleared by my cardiologist but I am scheduled! Maybe your DOC thinks he dosen't need one but, I would politely ASK FOR ONE, as the scan shows everything such as bone spur, etc.... Also, definately, definately get a second opinion! I LOVE this new ENT, he seems to be a wonderful Doctor, the first doctor was totally the opposite! Goodluck with whatever you decide and keep us updated
SleepyNoMore thanks for the advice and I hope yours goes well on the 20th.
Short version... I canceled my appointment with the Docter after he didn't return my calls. I'm looking for another Dr.
Long Version... I signed up with this Dr. because he was the first I saw and he only recommended the deviated septum fix, not the turbinate reduction. The second Dr. told me I needed the whole thing including all the throat work. I ran to the 3rd Doctor (who's not in my insurance network and he recommended the nose work). So I figured I'd go back and schedule with the first because he didn't push anything more than the septum. When I went back he added the turbinate reduction and started pushing all the throat work at the same time. That made me nervous at first. After I asked about the CT scan, and he said no--- run like a bunny time! So here I am looking for a Dr. that isn't pushing everything and will take the time to understand my nose before he starts cutting.

WISE IDEA!!! You're on the right track. If it isn't clear to you, if you aren't comfortable w/the information being provided to you ... get another opinion. What the surgeon suggests to you should make sense to you, you should feel comfortable w/the suggestion.
