Cleaning used mask?

What is the recommended way to clean a used mask, as in mask roulette? Do you need to buy a special mask disinfectant?

I simply wash them well with Dawn dishwashing liquid and rinse well. Then I soak for 15 minutes in a vinegar and water solution. I then rinse well and allow to dry thouroughly. Never had a problem.

Hi Weebles,

bdp's suggestion may be adequate for some, but for people like me who are on "immuno-modulator medication" (it suppresses my immune system), I would use Control 3 disinfectant to reduce my risks. I have the kit which I obtained from our hosts.

Ditto! Detergent is okay for routine cleaning of one's own mask and hose, but used masks really should be sterilized using an approved germicide.

Or, there's always the hot water method--one of my masks included directions for using hot water, 210 degrees for 10 minutes, I think. Did that once, but it was a lot of trouble!
