Side Sleeper

Post by Duke » Tue Nov 13, 2007 2:04 pm

Just changed from Mirage Quattro to the Mirage Swift II, last night was 1st night and non of the dry mouth or anoying air leaks. Was wandering if the Comfort Curve by Resperonics would be any better of mask to use, I mean it just dosen't have the invasive pillows. Really just trying to find a mask I can sleep with on my side and be comfortable all night. Greatful for any help.

As you may have noticed, most everyone has a different size and shape of head, nose, and face. Hence different masks will fit different people differently.

The mask is the most important part of this treatment to get right and yet it is also the most difficult.

Not having any idea what you look like, I won't even bother to make a suggestion because picking a mask randomly from the list at cpap.com would be just as useful. All I can say is just keep trying. There is a thread where some members are trading masks in order to find the right one or at least get them pointed in the right direction through various masks trials without going bankrupt.

I was lucky and found that the nasal pillow types were the ones that worked for me ... some better than others.

Best of luck!

Well the Swift II has me closer than the FF masks did , and I can put the hose almost anywhere I want to, so I'm close I believe. Thanks for your'e input.

I liked the Swift for side sleeping, but found the Nasal Aire II to be slightly better in some ways. My current favorite is the Headrest/Aura/Twilight (goes by all those names). It doesn't knock around when side sleeping like the others. I did a lot of the fixes recommended by Rested Gal and others with this mask.

For me the difference is that I can sleep in a similar position like I used to before I donned the mask. My neck position is much better and I don't have to hang the mask off the edge of the pillow to prevent leaks.

Finding the right bed pillow will also help with side sleeping.

If you are relatively satisfied with the Swift, that's great. You can start looking around at all these other posts to find some other things that will work for you. It's kind of like looking for a better job while you already have one that works. You can take your time and try to figure out what will work for you.

If you like the Swift you might also like the Nasal aire II

though it is a prong rather than a pillow.

I went that route and the Na II is my mask of choise.

For me

It allows for more side sleep than the Swift and nothing touches my face
making it the most comfortable of the four-FIVE interfaces I have tried

Bravo, CL2, Swift 1, Swift II

Others swear by the the headrest/aura ever changing name interface
but many deconstruct it

I like the Headrest as well. You might also consider the ComfortLite 2. It has three different interfaces that give you some choice.

I like the same two, in that same order.

Here are some discussions about them:
