Nightstand Draw?

Post by admiralross » Sat Nov 10, 2007 6:05 pm

Hello All

My wife and her wonderful ideas? She wants to make it neat. She was recommending that I put my machine in the draw when NOT in use. Does anyone else do this or is this OK to do? Or do you leave it out during the day?

I think she has a good idea. Putting it in the drawer will keep free of dust and protect it from accidental falls.

With four cats, ours always have to be protected. One of our cats used to sit on top of the alarm clock and turn on the radio. I have visions of her climbing on top of my machine and turning it on!

I leave mine in my nightstand all the time, but my nightstand has a door with shelves inside, not drawers. But I just leave the door open at night.

In fact, you could even leave it in the drawer all the time and just leave the drawer open at night.

I think the pressure coming out of the machine would probably be as effective!

We don't have any furry, four-legged family members anymore, so that's not an issue here.
I leave mine out all the time......plugged in and ready for use. I have one of mine sitting on a nightstand that has s pretty slick top, so I put two old (large) mouse pads under it to keep it from getting accidentally pulled or bumped from its location. Works very well.

Using mousepads under machine

Post by kteague » Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:12 pm

Hey Den, I think I saw that mouse pad suggestion recently and was going to ask if these are the soft rubber type and if they make any difference as far as muffling machine sounds?

I ran into a stack of them in my daughter's unused stock (they used to sell them with designs printed on them, but so many people don't even use mouse pads these days). I think I'll print one of my sleep apnea sayings on one and use it to keep my machine from sliding too. Except if I remember correctly, for a while after printing they smell like burned rubber - maybe I don't want going up my nose. Guess plain will do.

Kathy

Hi Kathy.

Yeah, I've posted it a couple of times and I think I saw somebody else post something similar. I just went back and measured them and they're about 9 1/4" x 8" and about 1/4" thick. They're blue cloth on black rubber. They were still "good" to use as moust pads, but I still have several others, so these were just extras. And, yes, they seem to do a good job of deading sound, too.

I use two.....laid side by side which gives a larger footprint to set the machine on.

I keep mine in the drawer. The only drawback is a little finagling to get my humidifier reservoir out to fill it. If we are having folks over I unplug everything and closer the drawer.

Yes. I keep mine in a drawer, draw it out at night.

I bought a new night stand that had a large drawer. I cut two holes in the back with two different hole saws one for the cords and one larger for the hose. That worked fine but did not like the struggle of filling the humidifer, So I cut off the front of the drawer and hinged the bottom. I than attached a window lock(the old stlye like a half moon) to the side. Now the front just drops away to remove the humidifer but the drawer still operates. I also fastened down the machine with velco to keep it in position near the hole I cut in the bottom of the drawer to ensure enough air to cool and to breathe.
This may not work for everyone but it helped keep peace in my house.
Also about a week after I did this I saw a night stand that had a small door on it. It would have worked great and been less work.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Good Luck and sleep well.
