Lung discomfort

Post by Dave2you 4 Now » Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:52 am

anyone ever get Sore lungs?

Sometimes In the morning my lungs feel overinflated and Sore.

I have a pressure of 13

I have an Alex but set as a cpap Reg. I am tempted to set it to 8 to 13 to see if that helps.

can Cpap hurt your lungs? shy of an infection. I Still sleep great though.

Yes, I have been experiencing the same feeling during my first week with REMStar Auto M Series with A-Flex (diagnosis = severe; setting = 9 to 17 cm). I have been waking up around 2:00 am with chest-lung discomfort and pressure maxing out near 17. I had trouble getting back to sleep at 17 cm the first night and had to take off the mask to sleep. Now I simply re-start the machine at its initial pressure of 9 cm and that allows me to get back to sleep and maximize nightly hours of therapy. I'm averaging 7.5 hours of therapy with 90% Pressure averaging 17.0 for the first week. SB

Yes... I definitely got sore lungs the first week... I think in my case it is because my lungs were not used to getting the oxygen they needed and the expansion causes some soreness. However... I feel like an idiot because I actually had a soreness in my left side of chest and backside... thought I was having "sharp pains" in my heart...went to the hospital.. thinking it was "chest pains."

After being completely checked out.. including a chest x-ray and bloodwork.. they told me I was fine.... I sheepishly left the ER (wasting their time and mine) and now.. no pains... no soreness. I did not know that some people do get some soreness when they first use CPAP... I wish I would have known about this wonderful forum sooner!!!

SLEEP WELL!!!

for newbies, yes, but it should go away after several months, if you haven't had a chest x-ray in some time, you should mention it to your doctor.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I had very sore lungs for the first couple of weeks. With doctor's approval, I lowered my pressure, increasing it .5 each night until I reached the prescribed level. By that time, the lung pain was gone.
