drummer,
Cool that you're taking lessons. You'll learn good technique that way, and that's important.

echo,
I'm still using the original Activa i purchased in May of '05. The cushion is still fine, but the headgear is worn out. I ordered a replacement today... actually debated just buying new headgear 'cause the rest of the mask seems fine, but decided to buy a whole new mask and keep the old one for parts.

j.a.,
It took me awhile to adjust to the mask as well. I was about to give up on it during the first couple weeks, but i'd never done CPAP before, so most of the adjustment was to wearing a mask... any mask.

For new Activa users, i'd suggest starting with the mask too loose and then tightening it until it stops leaking. I did it the other way round, and it took me a few nights to finally get it loose enuf so it fit right.

Ywa, lessons were a good decision, no doubt! Hopefully we can talk drums again sometime.

yes, the Activa should fit very loosely. The night they did my titration study they had it waaay too tight! This was quickly eliminated once I got it at home.

I've been using mine for three months. It still seals well, especially after a cleaning. I can tell though that it's not quite as good as when it ws still relatively new. I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I'm guestimating that the six month mark will be an ideal switching time. If I could do it every three, I'd do it then just because it seals so well when it'snew.

I actually started out with the Activa..... then tried several others mask.... then went back to the Activa EVERY time!!!!! It is the most confortablke mask I have found. (Should have just saved those $$$$$ and just stuck with the Actvia.)(lol)

My only complaint about the Actvia is I wish the exhaust port was quiter.

Yes, if anything gets in front if it there is a good bit of noise. to contend with. It can make getting the covers pulled up around you a bit of a challenge now that the temps are getting cooler where I live. I've managed a solution. Most of the time I stow the hose under the blanket except for the very top where the exhaust is.

I've found that hanging the hose over the headboard is more comfortable for me. With it pivoted down, the hose kept getting stuck on the edge of the bed and waking me up. Having the hose pivoted up has really helped.

wab,
I'm the same way. Bought the Activa first, tried a few other masks, and keep coming back to the Activa.
