Where do you sleep best?

Post by oceanpearl » Fri Nov 02, 2007 8:47 am

This question was asked by my new sleep doc. I told him that I sleep better when I am away from home. He indicated that it didn't suprise him at all since most of his patients say the same thing.
His explanation for this is that we have learned to take out troubles and worries to our own bed and don't do it in other places.
I just want to go back to sleep!

Actually, I've been sleeping on a couch for years and years. I have fibromyalgia, and if I sleep on a wide-open bed, I wake up with so many more aches and pains and stiffness. I think the limited space on the couch, the back on it, and the raised arm rests, helps keep me on my sides, where I'm more comfortable and less likely to get into weird positions. I have big problems on vacations when I have to sleep in a real bed!

Could also be as simple as a mattress at home that needs to be replaced.

It's more of what kind of bed for me.
Anything other than a waterbed and i'm miserable.
Not too many vacation spots have waterbeds.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!

I love my bed (it cost a small fortune) We were finaly able to purchase a quality bed about 2 years ago, it is the best bed I have slept in for years. When we go to hotels on vacation I personaly have a very hard time getting to sleep. My wife thinks the same way too. I am allways glad to go on vaction when we can , but I am even more happy to get home and sleep in our own bed.

I love my water bed too! Recently tried a sleep number bed at a mall, it's the closest to a water bed I've found. So, I sleep better at home.

Most of my life, if I'm tired enough, I can sleep on a rock (and have done so on occasion!!! ). That was before apnea.

In boot camp, I learned to sleep standing at attention with my eye's open......

cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?
