So, the Sleep Lab called back a day later and told me that after reviewing my second CPAP titration test they are still not satisfied that the pressure level is high enough. Evidently the test at 14 cm did not bring down the AHI to an acceptable level, so now they are ordering an "in-home auto titration test" using an AutoPAP machine. The nurse practitioner said she will order the AutoPAP setings at 9-17 to see how I do at the higher pressure levels.
She also said they are very concerned with the low oxygen saturation level (72%) and high blood pressure levels during testing. They are advising my internist to put me on blood pressure medication during both the auto titration test and initial phase of CPAP therapy.
Is it just me and my normal (?) anxiety, or is this cause for concern?
SB
I met with the doctor this morning and learned my diagnosis:
AHI = 72
Oxygen saturation of 72%
Rx for CPAP pressure seeting = 13.
I understand that AHI of >30 is considered "severe". What are the ramifications of an AHI of 72?
Steve

Your results were remarkably like mine except for the pressure setting. An Auto PAP is a good idea.
Blood pressure meds are also a good idea although you may find your pressure dropping after you have been on therapy for a while.
BTW, I was diagnosed in July, got my machine at the end of August and am doing fine. Your anxiety could be very helpful if, like mine, it causes you to use the machine every night.
Good luck,
Susan
