ACTIVA - SIZE DOES MATTER - POLL
ACTIVA - SIZE DOES MATTER - POLL
From another post and others talking about the mask sitting on the lip. I have the same problem and just wondered how many here would buy a new smaller ACTIVA if it were available. HOPING THEY READ OUR BOARD!
I WOULD DEFINITELY BUY IT IN SMALL!

If it's too low I get leaks from my upper lip; if it's higher then I get leaks around the eyes. I've finally managed to find a more or less stable location, but 1 mm up or down and i get leaks again YES i would DEFINITELY get it in a small! i haven't tried other masks yet, but I love the activa so far!
I've also noticed that after a few months, the seal is not so good as when I first got it. Using baby wipes to clean it made it WORSE. I find that washing with liquid soap, plus a vinegar rinse now and then, helps keep the seal stickier.

Based on a 3 week experience with the Activa, I'd buy a smaller version. That said, something tells me that part of what makes this mask seal so well has something to do with it's size - particularly that upper (sometimes lower) lip irritating hunk of rubber (or whatever it is).
I reported a few days ago in a separate Activa post that the mask compressed when I exhaled. This was incorrect. It does hug tighter when I exhale, but it dosen't compress - that's just the sensation it gives - it actually expands out. That "extra material" that irritates a lot of people seems to act like a bellows. Me thinks that's part of the magic that makes it seal.
I feel a little guilty finding a mask that seals so well after only two tries. The Activa does have it's annoyances and drawbacks, but in my own case anyway, it seals well including side sleeping and actually laying face down in the pillow.

The older I get, the better I was

That's the same problem I have. It is the eye leak that drives me the craziest!

My standard Activa is too big. it comes down over my top lip. In fact, I often think that if it was just a little bit bigger it could be the full face we would all like to see. And the headgear is loose and comes down to my neck area.
On the other hand, it seals fine for me and is comfortable - no need at all to have tight or even firm strapping. Because I tape my mouth closed, the cushion is not in contact with the skin of my upper lip and so does not bother me. In fact, I tend to think that the mask might be contributing to keeping the mouth closed. So I voted "maybe" in the poll re a small size. I would be interested to know if there would be any improvement in performance because of a better fit.
At present, the Activa is the only mask I use, although I also own a Breeze. I'm not quite game at the moment to pay for another mask that doesn't work for me.

Oh, I'd definitely buy the Activa in a small! I'd love to see the day if/when that ould become available. I started with the Activa and haven't sued anything else. My RT's and doctor helped me get it to fit well even though it is a bit large. I would also buy one in a FF if they got around to making one.

I voted 'Probably'. The Activa is the 4th mask I have had (trialed a couple more that I don't want to even think about), and the only one that lets me sleep all night without it springing a leak and me having to adjust it. I would definitely like to trial a small and find out if it would still seal as well.
The headgear is much to large, I agree. Here is the way I fixed it. Take the bottom straps loose completely. Put the mask on and adjust the top straps for a comfortable fit. Take the mask off. At the back bottom of the headgear, fold the bottom straps over twice. Put the mask back on and adjust bottom straps.
I did this sitting up, and didn't even have to adjust the straps after I went to bed. It made the headgear fit much better.
