I have started Ayr gel. I found it at Walgreens. It was less than 5 bucks for a tube and a little goes a long ways.

How often do you wash it? What are you washing it in?

Others will add additional useful information.

Ayr gel worked for a while, then my nose toughened up or so I thought.

I hadn't been washing it that often, and when I did I used the liquid soap on my sink, either antibacterial or Dr Bronners peppermint once in a while. I swing from every day to once every few days or once a week. not consistent.

catbirdgirl,

If the ouchy place is just inside your nostril, I would suggest dabbing it a couple of times a day with a triple antibiotic cream to help it heal faster. Then, I agree with sleepycarol about using Ary Gel. For a number of months, I used it every night. Then I switched over to Lansinoh lanolin. It provides an even better seal, IMHO. But for the sore place, I would think that Ayr Gel would be preferable to lanolin.

If you dismantle the Swift nasal pillows for a total wash, that can be a little hassle. But I would recommend at least a quick wash each day of the pillows area that touches your nares. I love the Dr. Bronners' soap. That's what I use, too.

Can you loosen up your staps a little? I hope you heal soon.

I was going to try the Lansinoh lanolin but couldn't find it here and was told they could order it and it would be here in a few days so I had them do that.

I was able to find the Ayr gel and so started with that .

What is Dr. Bonner's soap? Where do you find it? I have never heard of it.

Dr. Bronners' is an excellent liquid soap (but a little pricey). It is worth the cost to me for the laughs I get from reading the tiny wierd, wacko spiritual, philosophical messages printed all over the label. As catbirdgirl says, you can get it at health food stores. I use the unscented, which is "baby mild." The almond smells great, and the peppermint makes your whole body (yes every part) tingle if you use it in the shower. To learn more, here is the company's web site.

I remember a post from Babette that Trader Joe's has a similar castile soap for a lot less. Too bad there are no Trader Joe's here in Austin.

I'm going to have to get some antibiotic cream today because it's looking a bit pus-y. I cleaned it up with a little peroxide but OW that hurt.

I was told by the pharmacist that you shouldn't use neosporin in your nose. so I'm basically up the creek. I called the doc and left a message.
