ResScan with AutoSet Spirit

Post by mulmer » Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:56 pm

I have a two year old Resmed Autoset Spirit, and I'm thinking about getting the ResScan software so I can get better informed about what's going on while I'm sleeping. However, everything I've read about ResScan says you have to use it with a card reader. The AutoSet Spirit doesn't use a card; rather it has a serial port. Can ResScan be used with a serial cable connection rather than a card reader?

Assuming that I can use ResScan with a serial cable connection, then my next question is what cable do I need? It looks to me like it's just a standard 9-pin serial null modem cable. If that's the case, I've got one of those laying around the house already. Is that correct?

I'm new to this forum, but I've been browsing a bit over the last couple of days. The amount of information available here is incredible. Thanks for your help.

Yes it can.

See.... http://www.resmed.com/en-au/products/cl ... u=products

However, if your Autoset Spirit is 2 years old it should be an S8 model, but if it only has a serial port it sounds like its an S7 model and so would be at least 3+ years old!

See.... http://www.resmed.com/en-au/products/cl ... nz_eng.pdf

Which cable you need depends on whether you have an S7 or an S8.

See here for information on the S7 cable configuration.... http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-b ... &view=next

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks a lot for the information. My machine is definitely not an S8. Anyway, you've told me what I need to know. Thanks, again.

AutoSet Spirit

My Spirit is the Advantage (NOT Vantage) version, it has an accessory (ResLink) which plugs into the back and accepts a SM (smart media) card. I use the AutoScan program. I once read the card with Nikon camera.

The media card used in the ResLink is the stock standard smartmedia card & I can read mine on most of my PCs (and as you pointed out, you can read it on your camera ).

Slinky & I both bought Reslinks just to try them out. The data card is so easy to use because it requires no special readers or software drivers, just a cheap ($15) multi-function datacard reader as now comes built-in with most printers & many PCs. It saved me buying a smartcard reader for the standard Resmed card which I now don't need because the Reslink plus into the same slot.

DSM

xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)
