A Newbie, a little help pretty please with F&P HC234

Post by bluetiger69 » Wed Oct 24, 2007 1:19 am

First I would like to say I am so glad that I found this site.

I had my sleep study on 5/30/07 and I was given a prescription for a capap and was given a list of medical equipment providers that deal with medicare and was told by the medical equipment companies that "Medicare will not purchase the unit outright for me but will lease it for 13 months at which time it will be yours. However, since that is the case they said that I had to pay my co pay for this year and next which was $133.00 each year and then I had to pay 20% per month of the lease which was $20.50 each month totaling $532.50 and I had to pay that up front. I am legally blind and am on disability and I work very little my vision limits what I can do. Since I dont have that kind of money I've been doing without a cpap machine since May 30, 2007 until I saved up the money to buy one online from SeacondWind.com, a refurbished machine. Its the best I could do. I got a F&P HC234 with humidifier and just need the manual I have no idea how to set it up. I kow what pressure its supposed to be set to (15 cm h2o) and all but have no idea what button does what. Is there an online manual anywhere I can use? I dont know if the people at the medical supply places were trying to rip me off or not but I didnt know what else to do.

Best wishes,

- Turn on the HC234.

- Enter programming mode by holding down the "RAMP" (top) button and the "Next" (Right arrow/bottom button) for three seconds.

- The first screen will allow you to set adjust altitude, which is indicated by a drawing of a mountain range on the screen. You can change this to "m" for meters or "ft" for feet by pressing the Up or Down keys. Press the Right Arrow key to allow changing the altitude setting.

- Press the "NEXT" (Right arrow/bottom button) to advance to pressure setting which will be indicated by the characters "cm h20 " on the screen. Use the Up and Down keys to change the pressure setting.

- Lastly, push that bottom button again to exit programming mode.

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.

Thank you, that worked like a charm. I posted to also ask has anyone else been told what I was told by Medicare or was I misinformed and the medical supply companies were just being difficult?

You can also find the manual for your CPAP on-line at the F&P website here:
