You may have only been diagnosed in the last four years, but odds are you had it for years before you were diagnosed. It seems that is the case with the great majority of the members here, myself included.
Same here. I was diagnosed this summer but I'd be willing to bet I've had it for YEARS and never knew. I spent years snoring, being uncontrollably sleepy during the day, waking up during the night choking and not knowing why. I can't even think how long I've had it....Probably going on 20 years would be my guess. Just based on how long I've been this way. And now I have NONE of those symptoms anymore. Huge difference.

Well, just go to this link on Respironics' site. There's a picture of a lovely, young woman.....seemingly sleeping......WITHOUT a mask. What are THEY selling (or promoting) in that picture?

the funny thing is before cpap, i looked worse sleeping without my mask than i do with it...mouth hanging open, snoring to wake the dead, snorting, gasping, choking and twitching...very hot

Looks a lot different than MY "sleep system". MY "sleep system" has something strapped to my face and attached to a hose, etc.

Funny, they've got her picture right above an M Series machine, aka "sleep system", toooooooo......

Just shows to go you - another dumb set of executives who don't know enough about their product to realize that they hired an advertising firm that doesn't know diddley-squat about their product. Ahhh, corporate America.

Sleep system, huh? And what is it Resmed calls theirs"?? I can't remember now, but the term they used was kinda confusing when they first issued their Voluntary Recall earlier this year. It wasn't machine or CPAP.

Tylenol PM is what clued me in that I had a problem. When I would take it I would go from a deep sleep to sitting up and gasping..so I had to give it up and stop sleeping. My NP listened to my story about it and sent me to the study.

So now I'm back to Tylenol PM (didn't want to) to try to make the CPAP work.
