Total Face Mask

Still trying to get complaint. Thought the Hybrid was gonna be the answer but between the cumbersome headgear & the pain it caused on upper bridge work, I quit using several months ago. Have got to get back w/ the program as feeling bad. DME thinks maybe the Respronics Total Face Mask may be the answer?? One size fits all?? Has anyone out there tried this one or anything like it? I must be getting really desperate & I am!!

It's not how well you look in it but how well it works.

It has more face contact than all other masks which would concern me because there are more areas for leaks to occur. If you sleep on your back and stay in that position it would probably work quite well. However for side sleepers it looks like it might leak ... but it doesn't look like it would place pressure on your upper bridge work.

There are nasal cushion masks, nasal pillow masks if you can control mouth leaks ... otherwise there are other full face masks like Quatro, Ultra Mirage, Flexfit 432 and 431, and others.

haynow, I skimmed back through some of your previous posts. I didn't read thoroughly, but seemed you had switched to a FF mask because of mouth breathing?

If so, have you considered taping your mouth or using Polident strips to keep the lips shut so you could use nasal pillows masks like your Swift? Did the Swift suit you ok, other than the mouth breathing?

If, by chance, the Swift touches your upper lip too much, you might give Aeiomed's "Headrest" nasal pillows mask a try. The pillows on that one don't touch my upper lip at all, so maybe wouldn't put any pressure in that area on you either.

I got the Total face mask sort of as a hoot, but thinking, hey, it might be useful for something or another. It pretty much would be useful for unconscious people, but that's about it. To my surprise, I actually could get a seal, but it seemed to not allow the Auto BiPAP to adjust pressures. I imagine that may be because of the large enclosed volume.

I would not advise you to bother with that mask until you had tried everything else. I'm currently liking my Quattro quite a bit. Still use a UMFF, and am playing with a Soyala FF.

I tried a total face mask just last week. It only has two straps, top and bottom, going around the head and held with velcro. Those are the only adjustments you can make. It's also very wide and I can say with certainty that "one size does not fit all" Too bad they don't make them in different sizes. You would have to be unconscious to wear one. The exhalation ports are extremly noisy. The hard shell is so big that it comes halfway down the neck and will rub there. Definitely not made for small, thin or narrow faces.
