chin strap help

Post by Pam » Thu Oct 18, 2007 8:55 pm

Hi everyone,

Well I'm in need a chin strap.

I've read some of the articles here regarding using ace bandage or part of a pantyhose. But I was wondering about the actual chin straps.

What one(s) have you tried?

What is the good and bad about them?

What is your recommendation?

Also if someone does know of another home made one, I would appreciate knowing about it also.

Appreciate any and all help
Love to all
Pam

Pam,

I have used the Respironics chin strap. I find it harder than using 3M Micropore tape two inches wide. I have tried the chin strap under and over the head gear for my Swift II. Neither way seems to work well for me. I wake in the morning and find the various head gear has slipped and generally causes leaks I don't experience with the tape method. I think I will try a Resmed Mirage Liberty the next opportunity.

I alternate sometimes using the leg cut off a pair of pantyhose tights, or this "storebought" chin strap. I don't have to use the narrow horizontal straps with it...just the wide chinstrap itself:

Stays in place well and doesn't have to be fastened/unfastened after you get it fitted to you comfortably. You can then just slide it on and off from in front.
