Loose Collar on Heated Hose
Loose Collar on Heated Hose
A collar on a heated hose has become stretched and the adapter will no longer stay in the collar. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to tighten the collar around the adapter so it will not come apart?

Tightening the collar
Yoga,
I do not know if it would work, but I would try a pipe clamp you can get at a hardware store in the plumbing section I think. It is a metal band with a screw on the side and you use a screwdriver to tighten it.
It would not cost much to try it.
I would only tighten it enough to hold it on, not too tight.
I hope this at least gives you an option to get it to stay on.

Duct Tape
Yoga,
Duct Tape!
That seems to be a popular answer recently to many fixits.
(Not to make light of your situation, to be sure.)
I hope someone with a real answer comes to your aid before you sleep tonight.
Update: It looks like as I've written, the answer may have come.

Re: Loose Collar on Heated Hose
Some large diameter heat shrink tubing would probably be the best solution. You can get quite large diameters in the electronics stores here in Australia, so I guess that is a place to start looking.Yoga wrote:Does anyone have a suggestion on how to tighten the collar around the adapter so it will not come apart?

I had a similar thing happen with my hose when I changed to a mask with a swivel connector. I asked Forum Folk on Live Chat, and my advisers suggested cloth tape.
I had some white 'cloth' tape used for medical purposes, about 3/4" wide. It really did the trick, although sticky residue remains now that I am using a different mask. However, that does add to the adhesion now.

Loose Collar on Heated Hose
Thanks for all of the replies. It got hubbie motivated and he put on a pipe clamp and teflon tape and works great.
I also queried the heated hose folks in Australia and no reply thus far. Can always count on the folks here!
So the best thing is to get a hose connector when you purchase the heated hose. We did this after we found out from Rested Gal and it worked for a while, but since we had used the heated hose for a long time without a hose connector, the connection eventually became too loose.
