Here is a link to the current US stock market regarding certain companies.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=RMD

It outlines the main competitors in the resmed/respironics market

Look at these stats ...

1) # employees
2) Market cap
3) Share Price
4) Quarterly rev growth (y-o-y)

Hmmm seems RESP is doing very nicely thankyou

DSM

facts is facts (please don't confuse these facts with how these companies products perform - both have excellent products & technology )

Successful Companies

I guess there are worse things than being aligned with a successful company - except that the alignment is vertical and that doesn't feel too good from this bottom position.

Sheehs! LOTSA health care and imaging products for Covidien, Ltd, previously known as Tyco Healthcare, Follow it far enough and they are the makers of the Puritan Bennet GoodKnight xPAPs!! So Covidien is involved in more than respiratory care products.

I know Respironics also makes 02 concentrators. I never checked to see if Resmed was involved in producing more than sleep apnea products. Now I gotta go check THAT out! Sheesh, DSM, see what you started? Nosey people GOTTA know!

Guess what? At one time, maybe still, it was Nellcor Puritan Bennet. Like in Nellcor recording oximeters! Except a product search wouldn't bring up any Nellcor oximeters. In fact, it brought up only one product w/the Nellcor brand name and while I forget what it was it wasn't an oximeter. Nor did the product search bring up any oximeters. They must have sold off or discontinued the oximeter production.

I don't know where you searched, Slinky, but I got to http://www.nellcor.com from http://www.puritanbennett.com/prod/index.aspx - and there's a whole
Nellcor Pulse Oximetry page, pages even.

According to what I read, they split up Tyco at the end of June this year into two entities. Covidien and Tyco Electronics. The PB and Nellcor links are on the second link listed below.

And, Kozlowski is still sitting in prison awaiting an appeal at the end of this month.

This data was more interesting that I realised

Thanks everyone for all the additional detective work. I hadn't followed thru on the Coviden company (was bed time here when the 1st post went in).

I hadn't heard about the Tyco scandal. Awful how peoples sins can be put on display using Wikipaedia wonder what Kozlowski did with that 400 million ? - I wonder if he got to keep it

Re investing in any of these companies, I'll bet they will all remain high performers for several more years.
