Do Resmed machines lose data, too?

Post by jaybee72 » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:07 pm

I just downloaded the last two nights' data and got nothing! That makes a total of 3 days in the last week that I got no data from. What could i be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Nope. The Resmeds do NOT.

Are you downloading before noon? These machines work on an internal, 24 hour, noon to noon, clock. If you download after noon the data will have been rolled over into the total averages and won't be there for the daily.

Also, if you download immediately after rising in the morning you'll find an empty bar on the usage page. Wait 15-20 minutes after rising before downloading.

If you do download after noon and then save when you close out you've locked that day w/no data. Don't do a save, wait and download before noon tomorrow and today and tomorrow's data will both be downloaded and included.

If you save a day you've downloaded after noon that day cannot be filled in, it will remain blank altho the data will be included in the total averages.

The Resmeds save their data on the machine, not on the data card, and it will hold a full 5 days worth of data so you can delay doing a daily download to doing it every couple, but not more, than 5 days. The daily data will then be there. Just remember the NOON BEWITCHING HOUR!

Ok, now you've got me more confused... You said the data rolls over at noon yet it saves the data for 5 days? I know the data the display shows rolls over into the averages at noon - but I thought the daily profiles would be preserved for 5 days max regardless of what time you download them.

I did make a mistake by saving the profile with 2 blank days though. Thanks for the tip on preventing that in the future.

Jaybee,

Slinky was describing what happens if you wait 5 days to download the data. If you download after 12PM on the 5th day, the first days data will be gone (and replaced with the nothing because the machine has "cleared" its memory in anticipation of the new night's data).

I haven't lost any data (other than in the way described above). You may want to try to download the data again. When the download screen pops up, double check the selection concerning what type of data you want to download (Choose All Available). After it rereads the card, the software should ask you if you want to Overwrite or Discard duplicate data? If so, choose overwrite and see if it will restore the missing days - just a shot in the dark.

Good Luck,

Ok, I guess I messed up and saved when I shouldn't have thereby blocking out the ability to put data in those missing days. IAs a test I created a new patient and downloaded the same data from the card and the 2 missing days were there.

Duh. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for me! I forgot to tell you you could do that - create a new patient and get the data (if it is w/in the 5 days). Unfortunately, I haven't figured out a way to put it back in the orginal "saved" file. *sigh*

I keep an Elite file, an AutoSet Vantage file, and a file of the two combined. Don't ask me why. I think I started doing that when I managed to "lose" a day and created a new file to "get it back".

Jaybee72. I have RESCAN 3.2 and have noticed strange behavior with the software (if that's the version you are using). If I just tell it to download all available data it erases the detailed data older than 5 days in the database. I learned that if I download the all most recent detailed data then download all available summary data separately then I don't loose any data. If this is what you are talking about then maybe my fix will help. Like the others said, don't wait longer than before noon on the fifth day or you loose the oldest day when the clock resets the start of the "data day" for the machine which starts at noon.
