Well it was bound to happen

Post by lilsheba » Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:33 am

I'm now sick and finding ways to use the CPAP anyway. I busted out the full face mask I bought for this purpose (Comfort Full 2 from cpap.com) and it worked really well. It was weird to let myself mouth breathe....and also very weird to NOT have my mouth taped shut for once! I usually have the CFlex setting at one and I had to crank it up to three cause of lung issues.

And even though I got a sinus infection in the mix it's not bad at all this time. Thanks to surgery and the twice daily habit of sinus rinsing everything is draining out the way it should instead of being trapped in there and I can breathe a lot better than I normally would.

So all in all while it's not fun being sick I still feel tons better than I ever have being sick before. Still able to use CPAP and I feel pretty good considering.

Have a wonderful day peoples

I know how that is, I also am sick. The problem I am having is coughing when the mask is on. Very uncomfortable having to cough into that pressure.

I'm getting over a cold. I also can say that being sick on xPAP is much better than being sick without it! Hope everyone else also starts to get better soon!

Hope you're all feeling better soon, but glad to hear that if you have to be sick, this sick is much better than in the past.

xPAP to wellness.

Darn, here I was so happy that I haven't had a cold yet, and I woke up this morning and my nose hasn't stopped running all day (and boy it's tired ha ha).

I just went to the sleep doc yesterday for a check-up, shoulda asked them again for a FFM! Have any of you had a cold with a nasal mask and survived?? Any tips, besides { rest, vitamin c, nasal rinse } ?

Echo,

I survived. I squirted Afrin up my nose before bed for three or four nights and the machine took care of the rest. I was using the Swift II Nasal pillows then.

Echo...I survived bronchitis, upper respiratory infection and ear infection...lots of sudafed/afrin before I went to doc...then cough/decongestant medicine with a saline spray for the nose got me through after seeing the doc (plus antibiotics). I use the Swift II nasal pillows...and boy what a difference being sick on therapy vs. off! I actually get well now!

Get well soon!

I don't like to use Afrin because of the possible rebound effects. I went through too much to clean my sinuses out to let them get swollen LOL. But luckily they didn't swell up at all this time. I've had a runny nose (and yeah it's tired too lol!) but not even that bad.

Sinus problems are the bane of us cpappers. You have my sympathy. Self switched to full time use of a FF mask for sinus problems so know you will get relief from having do so as well.

Hope the nose clears up well & soon.
