cpap and arthritis is there a connection?

Post by kathshrn » Tue Oct 09, 2007 3:38 pm

I have recently joined the hosehead family. My husband has been a member for years and I finally gave up and went for study. I have had osteoarthritis in my knees for years. Too many years of basketball and not playing nicely. I have noticed that over the last 3 weeks or so, my joints don't hurt like they used to. Is there a connection or is it just my imaginatio? I had a lot of arousals on my sleep studies with my legs jerking.

I had assumed I had arthritis in my knees but never been officially diagnosed. In my hands also. I used to take my husbands arthritis pills when it really bothered me, but it is gone now. It has to be from BiPap because nothing else has changed. Actually it is getting cold here now, and before that would have bothered me worse. So not being really as well informed as some of (or most of) the posters here I am only speaking from experience, but my aches and pains are 90% better. Karen

Unfortunately, I have NOT noticed any difference in my arthritis since starting CPAP in Jan 2007. In fact because I now have to sleep on my side I have noticed one shoulder hurts more. That would be a blessing if it did help.
