Okay, now I can't listen to music without thinking of apnea!

How about the Everly Brothers oldie (covered by Olivia Newton-John, Hank Williams Jr., Julio Iglesias, Simply Red, kd lang, The Mavericks, Tom Fuller and Semisonic)

"The Air That I Breathe"

Making love with you
Has left me peaceful, warm, and tired
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired
Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel, go to sleep

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe, yes, to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe...

Allright, maybe that belonged on the "Cpap and the opposite sex" thread. How about one for those of us with central apneas? Of course by our favorite nasal singer, Bob Dylan.

"Idiot Wind"

Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth,
Blowing down the backroads headin' south.
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,
You're an idiot, babe.
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.

Easy, Bob! I guess more than just his voice is harsh.

And my favorite by George Harrison.

"Blow Away"

All I got to do is to, is to love you.
All I got to be is to be happy.
All it's got to take is some form (forum?) to make it
Blow away, blow away, blow away.

The Hollies also covered this. I remember that my parents used to have it on a 45 rpm single (remember those? ).
Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Of course! That was in 1974 and was their last major hit single, reaching No. 2 in the UK and No. 6 in the US. Meant to put them at the top of the list of covers.

We are certainly dating ourselves...

BTW the song "Creep" by Radiohead uses an identical chord structure and similar bassline and melody, and so was credited to the writers of "The Air That I Breathe".

Nana Mouskouri's "I Have A Dream" is another I've always liked and the title could be quite appropriate for some.

Did we mention Johnny Tillotson's "Send Me The Pillow You Dream On"??

O.K. I'm laying here trying to get an hours nap on CPAP, and this comes to mind......

To the tune of "Do your ears hang low?" (Author unknown -No one has ever admitted to actually writing this stupid song)

"Does your tube hang low?"
"Does it wobble to and fro?"
"Do you tie your tights in a knot?"
"Or you tie 'em in a bow?"

"Do you run your air over your shoulder?"
"Crush your mask with a boulder?"
"Does your 0-2,... run,...low?

My apologies.

With apologies to Gershwin

Slumber time
And the sleeping is easy
Sheep are jumping
& oxygenation is high
my CPAP’s on
and the pressure is flowin’
so hush little hosehead, don’t you cry

Awwww, LePeu!

Yer a poet and didn't even know it.
But your feet show it,
they look like Longfellows.

(Now that IS dating myself! - I haven't thought of that one in decades!)

Back to the Beverly Hillbillies

Post by kteague » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:20 pm

Just read back thru this thread and couldn't resist the Beverly Hillbillies...

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
Snoring mountaineer, nearly shook him out his bed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire,
Country doc said Jed move away from here
Said Kaliforny is the place you ought to be
Invest all your money and become a DME.

Cpaps, that is.
Air machines, masks galore.

(I can see Jed now peddling "these here fancy air machines" out of that truck and giving mask demos in Granny's rocker on top of the truck.) Sorry to desecrate your memories, Snoredog.

GOOD one, KTeague!!! And, yup, LePeu I can see Granny and her "cure". Of course, Ellie Mae as the RT might cause more than a few men to need multiple mask exchanges ....

Huey Lewis, anyone? I only changed drug to mask. Surprising how well it fit.

I want a new mask
One that won’t make me sick
One that won’t make me crash my car
Or make me feel three feet thick

I want a new mask
One that won’t hurt my head
One that won’t make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red

One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
When I’m alone with you

I want a new mask
One that won’t spill
One that don’t cost too much
Or come in a pill

I want a new mask
One that won’t go away
One that won’t keep me up all night
One that won’t make me sleep all day

One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
When I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you baby

I want a new mask
One that does what it should
One that won’t make me feel too bad
One that won’t make me feel too good

I want a new mask
One with no doubt
One that wont make me talk too much
Or make my face break out

One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
When I’m alone with you
