I agree with that Slinky. Buying used is sometimes risky anyway and when you can't get answers to your questions, forget it.

Thanks, sthnreb. I could play earthlink's (his ISP) game and click on the URL given and all that - but why bother? Either the guy wants to sell the item or he doesn't. I'm not playing games w/him or his ISP because they can't come up w/a better spam filter than that.

Can you tell I didn't get much sleep last night?

Sure can, you probably didn't sleep but 8 hours. I have a relative that sends me emails and I get that same response if I reply. So, I don't. They could take a hotmail or yahoo account so someone could reach them if they wanted to be reached. I figure they don't. With no info available on a used item, it would be buyer beware.

I recently attempted to list some of my left over cpap equipment on Ebay and was sent one of these nasty messages...

“The Auction listing was removed because it violated the eBay Medical and Prescription Items policy. All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.

To protect consumer health and safety, sales of drugs and other medical items are heavily regulated. For this reason, listings for drugs and other items that require a prescription from a doctor, dentist, optometrist, or veterinarian are not permitted on eBay. Listings for other health care or medical-related items are severely restricted.

Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP), Variable Positive Airway Pressure (VPAP), and Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) machines can only be sold by prescription. For this reason, listings for these items are not permitted on eBay.”

After doing more research on this, it sounds like ResMed got all the venders together and pressured Ebay to enforce this policy. What about all those people suffering with sleep disorders without health insurance! This was a great way for those people to pickup equipment that is affordable! Most of the healthcare equipment companies I have dealt with over the years are way way over prices for those who don't have insurance coverage. And they charge like well over $2,000.00+ for a cpap machine to my insurance company that can be purchased new on line for far less and usually in most cases well under $1,000.00. Say I can understand that a business needs to make a profit, thus the reason why a business is in business, but come on, markups like this are ridiculous and uncalled for people without insurance in need!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this group and the new auction website! Bless this group for providing this new auction site! Thank you, thank you! I know so many people with sleeping disorders that have to fight the process to get real help with their health! Being treated for sleep apnea changed my life forever, and provided me with a real opportunity towards the road to good health! For those battling for good sleep, please don’t give up! While I agree with you, we have to also understand that even this auction requires a prescription to purchase Cpaps and Bipaps. As you say, without insurance, it is a great help for some. Medical appliances and drugs are way out of proper proportion on markups. Even Internet sites make profits even before Resmed required them to increase prices. (Good profits!)
A good instance is a drug I take, Coreg CR. The lowest price I found was at Costco for $109 for 30 days or 30 capsules. I had my Doctor change my prescription for regular Coreg 12.5 mg which has a generic. I get these at Sams for 60 for $4.00. I actually get 180@$12, no tax or other charges. For 1 month, that's $105.00 less expensive for a generic identical. Quite a markup huh?

I think this auction idea was great, I had insurance when i was diagnosed
and got my cpap machine now I w/o insurance, I went to price just a seal for my mask and it 82.00 these people make a killing off of things that we need to live. Thank You cpap for this wonderful idea.

I have tried several days to log onto and register with CPAP Auction. The web site will bring up the information screen to fill out but there is no way to save the info or to get registered. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't actually registered with cpap auction but I would think I could. Contact Cpap.com customer service and ask them. They are quite helpful.

Thanks for this service Johnny. I just found out that I am the new owner of a lightweight S7 with humidifier for a little over $100. I think this will be and excellent backup at an affordable price. Hope I receive it soon and without any problems!

There should be a forum on where people can post their experiences with sellers and buyers DURING the auction process.

For example, one seller "sistercid" does not reply to questions. She/he also sells a NEW Respironics BIPAP pro 2 w/biflex for really cheap (around $250) when it costs $1100+ new. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. She/he just added a second listing for the same machine.

I just won my first bid on cpapauction for a mask at a greatly reduced price. And, since I live in the town where the person lives, he said I could pick it up so I can save on shipping! It was opened, but never used.

I'll post again once I get the mask and try it out.

No protection against unscrupulous sellers. At least with Ebay and Paypal (together) you have protection unlike at CPAP auction.

I have been buying all sorts of items on ebay and yahoo auctions for many years totalling perhaps 5000 auctions wins. I ALWAYS pay using Paypal and a credit card within Paypal. As long as you have no cash in your Paypal account, purchases will always be charged by Paypal to your credit card. If the transaction goes bad my first line of defense is Paypal. If that fails and it often does, I dispute the charge with my credit card company within 45 days of the transaction date. That works just about every time.If you do this, and avoid sellers with bad feedback, the risk reward ration is truly excellent on auction sites. Cpapauction.com is really no different in that respect.

Just don't bid against me!
