Going under the knife

Post by Guest » Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:02 am

HI everyone! Im having surgery next week Wednesday UPPP tonsils and "turbines" as well. Im a good canidate for it, hopefully it deems successful, if it doesnt then Im back to CPAP as any more surgeries would not be worth doing considering I can tolerate CPAP if neccessary so no invasive surgeries for me. Wish me luck.

Good luck Carrie. Let us know how it goes. The doctors kept trying to get me under the knife too, but I opted for the CPAP instead. I know several people (my brother for one) who had the surgery and are glad they did. I am a bit squeamish about surgery so I became a hosehead.

I went under the knife in April, and it is the best decision I have ever made. Prior to surgery, I was constantly battleing sinus infections all year round, headaches and I was always heavily congested...I hate to think how many bottles of nasal sparay I have gone through in my life.

My ENT corrected my deviated septum and shaved my turbinates. In his words "...You can drive a truck through there now..."

He refused to put me on CPAP until I had the surgery, and I am now glad he made that stand. I have only been on the CPAP since the end of July, but I can definitely tell the difference. I don't even want to imagine trying to use this thing without the surgery. My current pressure is an 8. I would imagine my pressure would be in double digits if I had not had it done.

Good luck with it. Let us know how it goes.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I had septo-rhinoplasty last year.

ENT had gotten approval for UPP but I decided not to go through with it.
