getting a full face not to leak?

Post by deatom » Mon Dec 06, 2004 4:57 pm

I just got in a Respironics ComfortFull mask and it seems to leak a little when I move my chin. Is there any way I can close off the leak or make it stop?

Hi.

If adjusting doesn't help or you need to pull the straps too tide.

Here is a tip (I got from the nurse)

Use a small piece of an artificial shammy (I hope it is the right word).

It is a bit of a hassle but it does work.

I have tried the Respironics comfort full at my DME's office and I noticed on their mask that the bottom portion which goes over the chin is relatively flat. I had the same problem with the leaks when I moved my chin around and even with tightening the mask straps it still leaked when movement occurred.

The design on the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF (nose and mouth mask) has a curved section on the bottom of the mask that conforms to the chin's contour better in this manner. You may want to give the ResMed mask a try.
