new Hans Rudolph V2 mask (almost) available

Post by Tasmania » Wed Sep 26, 2007 12:37 pm

For those few interested in the new Hans Rudolph V2 full face mask it is almost here. I found it available for pre-order at CPAPUSA.com for $149

http://www.cpapusa.com/search.php?categ ... &type=mask

I just wish they would make it clear what the expected ship date would be. I plan to get one and will post a review as well as a comparison with the original VIP 7600 just as soon as I feel I can do it justice. I know the 7600 mask has a less than stellar reputation but I personally still think it is the best mask I have used so far... I just need to get one size up so that it sits properly on my nose. It ain't for everyone... I'll grant you that... but I think the bad rap it gets has discouraged a lot of folks from trying it that might really benefit from it.

ANYWAY... I, at least, am eager to get my mitts on the V2 as soon as I can.

The V2

Post by Dgrendahl » Wed Sep 26, 2007 4:16 pm

I have been in touch with them and I too am waiting for it to come out. I shall try it. When I talked to them, I was told that they will be giving a 30 day money back guarantee and that we should be asking for it from whoever we purchase it from. Sounds good to me

30 day guarantee is worth trying a new mask for, you never know what you will like!

I spoke with Kelly at Hans Rudolph, as well as Monica at cpap.com, and the Hans Rudolph 30 day guarantee does not apply to cpap.com. I would guess that it does not apply to any online DME vendor. The lady I spoke to at HR was suggesting I find a nice local Bricks and Mortar DME vendor, and that they would honor the 30 day return.

I may possibly try the new mask anyway.

So has anyone tried the Hans Rudolph V2? How is it different than the original Hans Rudolph? What is the headgear like?

7600 V2 mask

Post by Dgrendahl » Fri Nov 30, 2007 6:28 pm

I received in the mail today some promotional material for this new mask. I also discovered that their will not be 30 day money-back guarantee. Seems that is only for DME's and then only to exchange from one size to another. So, if this is tried and it doesn't work, I guess all we can do is try to sell it on cpapauction.com. Anyone here already got one?

It looks waaaaay to big and bulky!! I don't know if Iwould like that much bulk on my face. I'll be anxious to hear what others here think about it. Don't know if I will try that one or not...I'm having pretty good luck with both the Liberty and the Quattro.

What is that.....

Is it an attempt at a "Activa" type full face mask???

Looks like something of Star Trek.

Looks BIG.

Things are always bigger here in Texas

Just thought I'd stop in to say Hi, and if you have any questions... please ask.

I am KC Rudolph with Hans Rudolph, inc. and would like to help out if I can.

The new V2™ Mask has lots of big changes. We took five years of feedback and worked it into our 2nd gerneration.

I noticed some were asking about what the changes were. The most noticable are as follows:

-new simple headgear and quick release clips
-new seal design to conform to more facial types
-new venting for quieter sleep
-new braces for support and improved headgear control
-new detachable swivel for quick trips without removing the entire mask

Also, the garuntee can only be for physical DME's and is only for mask sizing. We here at HRI know that sizing can be an issue and are trying to come up with a way to ensure the correct size for each patient.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you,

KC Rudolph

As far as the size in that picture, please remember that it is on a manakin head. The picture is used more to show detail in the mask itself rather than the relation of size. It is a little misleading, but the mask is too large for that head. Sorry for the confusion.

I would like to try it. I must be the only one who has trouble with the Activa leaking all of the time. My leak line is never horizontal for more than a few minutes. And the Activa is better than the 11 others I have tried.

KCR, do you have as good and detailed a picture of the original HR you could post as well?

Frankly, I don't care for the clips. When half asleep in the dark I find them a PITA. I much prefer the velcro strap ends, I only have to undo one to get my mask off and now know by instinct where to set the velcro when I climb back in bed and put my mask back on. I know, even our apnea support group leaders, say it is better to detach the hose than take the entire mask off for bathroom trips. But detaching the hose on the masks I've tired isn't that easy and knock my mask and headgear all over my head.

What I need is a mask that fits BELOW the bridge of the nose. Flexibility between forehead and nose.

In fact, "my" IDEAL mask would be a full face Simplicity. Exactly like the Simplicity except the simple cushion would extend down to the cleft between lower lip and chin. Nothing at or on the bridge of the nose at all. The least bit of weight or pressure at the bridge of my nose starts the ole sinuses flowing.

This is the old Vmask™. Notice the clips are squeeze-to-release and the new V2™ mask above are slide-in-place and slide-out-of-place. With the new clips you just push them towards the front of the mask and they pop out of place.

Notice on the new V2™ mask pictured above that the seal on the face is different as well. You can actually see the ribbed contour forming seal sticking out from the main mold of the mask. This alows it to form to more facial types and better around the nose.

Also notice the clear braces on the mask where the headgear connects. this allow for more control with the headgear and for more mask stability.

You can also see on the new mask where the swivel detaches allowing you to get up without taking of the mask or hasling with the tubing.

These are just some of the modifications.
