msheda,

I know you're having fun

You've given me a few belly laughs today (and truth be told, my belly looks more like Gasp's avatar than mine).

I think a face to face would be fun -- but we'd all have to have one of the large conference rooms and wear our masks to the meeting.....

Can you imagine a few hundred "xPap'ers" wearing our masks, dragging our hoses in some fancy schmancy hotel somewhere. People would think the aliens had landed.....
That would be priceless!!!!!!!

In Vegas we wouldn't even be noticed though....

cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Hoses, pad-a-cheeks, ladies stockings across our face . . .

20/20 or Dateline NBC could do a story on the new fetish invading the country.

Does that mean we also have to wear black leather?

So now, we have a lewd and lacivious alien in our midst.
What, you didn't notice that I'm wearing an alien fiber designed to protect my gorgeous alien skin in a color that is all the latest rage for aliens?

For those of you wondering about meeting once a year, I used to be involved with a forum that was for people with heart valve repairs or replacements (called http://www.valvereplacement.com). They meet annually - just rotate around the country with folks from that area sort of "hosting" it. Have done Chicago, Vegas, Orlando, etc. Just a weekend that combined some education (sponsors) and fun. The one time I went we had a "longest scar" contest (we all had open heart surgery) which when you think about it could (and did) get a little racy We even had a guy from Northern Ireland come! It was great to meet folks face to face - nice friendships form.

nah, i was 8 when i came to canada...got teased so much in the playground that i worked hard to get rid of it...cultivated what i thought was a canadian accent, but was really american, and got teased for that, too! and windsor is so close to detroit that we have our own hybrid accent, so when windsorites travel anywhere else in canada, we get teased by other canadians for sounding american!

anyway, now, if i want to i can pull out the belfast accent, and when i'm with my family or back in ireland, it comes out on it's own

Accents fascinate me the way they can come and go on their own. That's really interesting!

Yeah -- accents are fun. I'm a "mimmick" - my ex said I should have been a linguist because I'm so anal about correct pronunciation and accents.
I'm a native Californian (one of the few that are left -- most have been smart enough to leave!!!! ), but I lived with guys from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas while I was in the service and to this day if I get into a bunch of southerners I fall right back into the accent -- and it's hardly "natural".....As we all know, Californians are the ones that don't have an accent and talk normally

cheers

Well I"m a native Californian too, but I'm not saying a thing about talking normally lol. And as far as accents go I think southern accents are the easiest to just fall into whether you're from there or not.
