stomach sleeper

Post by weebles » Sun Sep 23, 2007 1:30 pm

Hi,

I use the swift and many times wake up with my face mashed into my pillow on my stomach. I worry that the exhaust may get blocked when I am in this position.

So I was wondering if a body pillow might help keep me sleeping on my side. Has anyone tried this to keep from stomach sleeping? Any recommedations on type of body pillow?

Thanks,
weebles

weebles, if you like a nasal pillows mask and you like sleeping on your stomach, you might want to try the "Headrest" mask by EvoMedical. That mask used to be called two other names: "Aura" and "Twilight NP".

The exhaust on the Headrest is located up at eyebrow level and points straight up. Just about impossible to block even if you're sleeping face down on your pillow. Several tummy sleepers on this message board really like that mask.

I sleep mainly on my sides and sometimes semi-tummy. It's been my favorite mask for over two years now.

Here are links to quite a few topics about that mask:

I wish I had some helpful information weebles, but Image to the site.

I used to almost always end up on my stomach when I slept (never on my back) before being diagnosed with OSA in August. I think it was my body's way to keep me breathing. I haven't ended up on my stomach at all when I'm able to use my BiPAP. Now I can even sleep on my back, when my machine is in Auto anyway.

Now what kind of machine are you using? Do you know how your AHI is doing, tracking software? Maybe your numbers are still fairly high when you're on your side or back, and your body is trying to make it easier on you. It was just a thought I had. It totally may have no basis, but it might not hurt to think about it.
