I've had the same problem for a while, but it got really bad about a month before my first sleep study. I sent an e-mail to the advice nurse and they forwarded it on to my Primary Care Dr. and he just kind of shrugged it off and said weight loss weight loss weight loss... and prescribed me Furosemide, Potassium Chloride supplement, and knee high compression stockings. And said walk as much as possible and when sitting to elevate my legs higher than my waist every chance I get and not to sit for prolonged times with my feet on the ground. I have yet to pick up the stockings because I didn't think I could wear them in the heat, and we didn't really have money for them either. I haven't heard a word from him about it since and we've had a couple of appointments. Though the Furosemide seems to be helping, but I've still got a bit of swelling, but at least it no longer hurts like it did and my skin doesn't feel like splitting anymore.

Jodie,

Salt is my weakness - I crave it constantly - and resist when I can, but occasionally I just break down and eat more than I should. And, yes, then my feet, ankles, legs and hands swell. Probably everything else as well. I am supposed to take Diovan HCT every night - which helps when I take it. Definitely see your MD soon.
I am so sorry to hear about your cat. You have my sympathy. That is very hard to deal with. I know from experience. But I also see if the avatar photo is your baby, you still have a very beautiful and loving baby to care for. I know that doesn't change the hurt you feel from the loss of your cat though. Hope all things will soon be better for you. Keep us posted.
Josie

Jodie,

I'd been wondering how you were doing. (We discussed the edema 2 or 3 weeks ago).

I REALLY hope you have a much better week! Sounds like you've had it rough! Hang in there, and keep us posted! It can only get better!

I'm glad to see the other postings about laying off the junk food. I was just thinking this morning, that is one of my major problems. I think we all need to get off of so much processed food.
