Software / Smart Card questions

Post by Scuba_Steve » Sat Sep 22, 2007 3:50 pm

I am looking to get a machine that collects data so that I can improve the quality of my treatment. After hours and hours of research I still have two questions.

1) Can you get software for the Respironics machines?

2) Do you need the software? Meaning, is all of the information available on the little view screen on the machine itself? I really don't need to download or print the information. But I do want the ability to review it.

Software to view the detailed data on Respironics machines is supposed to be available to us users soon.

If you are refuring to the "M" Series, the information on the LCD screen is worthless. The present software is still out there but it is getting a bit hard to find and what is left is a bit expensive. If you can hold out for Patient Reader (October we hope) we all have high hopes for it.

Where there's a will there's a way, Don't count on the "M's" display to be very useful. Software is what you need. Make sure your new machine gives you what you need. Jim

And if you got a Resmed S8 Elite or S8 AutoSet Vantage you would have a good size, easy to read, LCD screen with easy access to your 95th percentile of Pressure, 95th percentile of Leaks, AHIs, AIs, HIs, hours used that night, total hours on the machine, total nights on the machine and total nights since its first use w/o having to bother w/unplugging, plugging and pushing buttons. Just push a couple of buttons and there all that info is at your fingertips. And, of course, the software and reader are available w/a little sleuthing.

Bottom line is that the software you need is presently not available to patients probably because it allows you to change the machine settings (I tend to be more cynical about it -- and I'm not really a cynical kinda guy).

As RG said, in October (?) it has been announced that a version for patients will be made available by Respironics called Encore Viewer. With luck it will be pretty much the same as Encore Pro without the "prescription mode".

There is some available out there.
It's difficult to find, pretty expensive for what you get and if you find it, please don't post the source here (they seem to go away very shortly after their names become known)........

Good luck - hang in there.
cheers
