SOYOLA HELP

Post by Sasquatchbreath » Wed Sep 19, 2007 8:46 am

I really want to like this mask. I love how quiet it is, and my AHI went way down using it last night...... but

It hurts the bridge of my nose. I have the large. It left a wite/red...now just red line on my bridge that acts almost like a bruise. I hope I can just adjust it somehow, I', not sure what the best approach on the forehead etc is.

Any direction out there?

The person that could be most helpful is SnoreDog. You should PM him.

You might try a folded handkerchief or washcloth under the forehead bad. It helps me get the pressure at the bridge of the nose. You might need to tighten the lower strap more after then to make sure you have good seal.

means too much pressure on the nose,

make sure the mask isn't riding down too far on the nose bridge (pull it up higher)
mask comes in the "center slot" where it attaches to the main base, you can move it to the first slot.
the forehead bar also adjusts in/out which can move the mask out.

keep adjusting it and the straps until you relieve the pressure on the nose, don't
overly tighten the straps that mask doesn't need a lot to seal, loosen until it leaks
then just tighten up until that stops.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Thank you for the advice. I just talked to Patrick at Somnotech. He suggested similarly.

I'll need to switch back to my swift II for a couple days then move the nose peice (the course adjustment) towards me one position (its in the middle now) and the micro away from me (I have it in the third position).

Hopefully this works but if not I will keep trying. If I can remedy the bridge issue this is going to be a great mask.

Love the quietness, love the dropping AHI but can not get the mask not to leave a huge red pressure sore on the bridge of my nose and it is uncomfortable along each side of my nose.

yet it leaks at higher pressure. I think its a wonderful product just not right for me

Just ordered a activa. I may come back to this mask and try it again (I already am out the $$) but I can't just settle for pain and discomfort.

I haven't had much luck with the soyala full face mask at pressures of 12 or more. ...my 95% pressure typically runs in the 12s to 13. I love the fit, the quietness and the overall comfort of it but it is killer on the bridge of the nose. Typically I don't last past 3 in the morning before I pull it off and put on the UMFF mask because the soyala has made a dent in the bridge of the nose and is hurting. I even cut the first one trying to relieve some pressure but it just caused more leaking around the eyes. I have tried every position and even built up the forehead with mole skin to keep it away from the bridge of the nose. If I put a ball in my back to stay on my side I can run the machine with lower pressure and the soyala doesn't have to be so tight so I can get through the night...but even then the bridge of the nose is sore and red the next morning. It's a great overall mask that is seriously flawed at the bridge of the nose location.

You need to move the top of the mask away from your nose.

First, there are 3 settings for the forehead bar to move it in/out. You squeeze at the front of the bar to do that (diagram in instructions). If you have moved that out the farthest point, then you need to move the vertical forehead bar to another slot.

There are 3 slots in the base of the mask where the vertical bar is inserted. The mask comes with it set in the "center" position. You need to sqeeze that above the base of the mask and remove it, then reinsert it in the slot closest to the cushion. This should move the top of the mask away from the nose and relieve pressure.

Adjusting the straps:

The straps are stretchy. You need to adjust those straps laying down in bed with head on pillow. You should loosen the straps and only tighten them just until the leaks stop.

The mask also has to ride in the correct position, for the top that is center of the pupil of the eye (also where everything should be adjusted above). If the mask is being pulled downward on the face it can leave a red mark. I run the hose from the machine on the night stand under my pillow and out from under and back up to the mask.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Called Patrick again. We are going to try a new cushon/seal and wait a coupe weks before doing so to let my nose heal.

I have not given up. Patrick and his company have phenominal customer service, and even if this does not work out I will keep my eye on their company for new products.

Very few companies provide that level of support.

kuddos.

Now if I can only get it to fit.

Thanks snoredog. I thought I had exhausted every adjustment for this mask but I followed your format and got through the night without any trouble.
