Hey, CPAPers. I've been on my machine for 2 weeks now with no problems at all (with the machine that is. I'm still sleepy). Then night before last, I was awakened by the most hateful stab of pain in my stomach that you can imagine. Now I've got this gas buble inside of me that won't budge. It just sits in the middle of my gut and gurgles. Please, someone help me. I know that this condition has a name for CPAP users, but I cannot remember it. What is it that I should do? I've tried everything that I can think of: GasX, laxatives, Pepsi, milk, Mylanta. Nothing's worked. It's just a big brick of cement sitting there, bothering me, making life miserable. I feel so heavy that I think I'm going to topple over. What's the cure?
Gassss (oops)
Do us a favor.
Add your equipment in your profile, also, we need to know your pressure settings. Are you using a humidifier?
Do you have a Doctor that you can communicate with?
It sounds like you have aerophagia, which is where you can get trapped air/gas when using CPAP.
It's uncomfortable, but not life threatening.
Perhaps your lungs are not used to taking deep breaths of air, so they feel over -inflated.
Just a guess, but I had the same thing in my first weeks of therapy.
It did get better.
Best,
Lee Ann
