Replacing the nasal pillows?

Post by pippincat » Sun Sep 16, 2007 10:15 pm

I have the OptiLife mask and was wondering how frequently should the nasal pillows be replaced?

Thanks

Most insurances allow for replacement at 3 months. I've used pillows for much longer(over 9 months or the CL2), and no problems.

Watch for cracks in pillows, leakage, pillows that collapse too easily, pillows that become uncomfortable. I keep a spare just in case.

I have found that washing well, and a 5 minute soak in vinegar and water keep my pillows sealing well.

From post previous to mine, the nasal pillows need replacing when they are collapse in use and are not sealing. My DME told me they get hard as they age. To me and from what seems to be my experience after 7 months with Optilife pillows, they definitely do not get hard as they age. I think they do get too soft and flexible to hold shape as they age.
