Encore Pro 1.8 Datadase Name & EPA

Post by Metal-Fatigue » Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:33 pm

From my other post on the Minimum Auto Range of M-Series set in A-Flex =2 cm, I’ve just bought a second M-Series. I’ve been running Encore Pro 1.6 and James’ EPA on my “old” auto M, but was able to get version 1.8i, Release 2 for my auto M with A-Flex. Part of this whole upgrade thing has been the purchase of a new computer with Vista. (I’m running my weather station and lightning detection software on this new computer. It’s always on so I thought it would be a good place to upload my nightly data without having to startup my laptop.)

I installed EP 1.8i on the Vista computer and imported all my data from 1.6 on my laptop and everything works just fine except for one thing! James’ EPA will not access the Encore Pro database on the Vista computer. I get the following error message:

Cannot open database “Encore Pro” requested by the login. The login failed.”

Looking a little deeper, it appears the when EP installed the database it named the database “EncoreProEX”instead of just “EncorePro”. I’ve tried reinstalling EP but it will not let me rename the database and I can’t find a way to point EPA to the correct database.

When I installed EP ver. 1.8i on top of 1.6 on my laptop it left the name alone (at “EncorePro”) and EPA works just fine on my laptop with EP 1.8i.

Yeah I know, that’s what I get for playing with Vista….

Anybody know what might be the problem or how to fix this????

Thanks - Scott

Sounds to me, like you have your fix. Well at least until you dig deeper. But if it works, isn't that a fix?

I second the Vista comment.
If it ain't broke - don't f*ix with it.

Gonna drive my XP 'til it's broke, ha

Hello Metal, I just got on cpap anout 1 month ago or less and I was very fortunate to find the ver1.8i.65, I think I got the last one at direct home medical anyway, I don't even know how to read it or understand anything yet. I emailed James Skinner before I recieved the software, lol and he told me I can't use the analyzer until I download the software... So when I got it I dloaded it on my Windows XP and it seems to be doing ok. Here is the link for the download that James sent to me for the analyzer setup 2. It's a long one: http://james.istop.com/EncoreProAnalyze ... setup2.exe . Is this the one you have? If not, I would try removing the ols one and dloading this new one. Like I said, I am using win xp and am a brand newbie, just got diagnosed about 2 months ago and then the long 1 month trial before recieving my own cpap machine so if you have any pointers for me as to how to read and understand the software program, please let me know... I hope this link will help you out as I know I am the only one responding to this post. You might also ask for SnoreDog's advice, I think he is real good at this stuff. Please let me know if this link helps, have a great day, Shirley

Gumby,

I tried the obvious "fix", but that didn't work. EP 1.6 will not even run the installer on the Vista machine.

SleepNoMore,

Yes, I was using he latest version of EPA. Guess I need to email James and see if he knows what the problems is.

Or, am I the only one that has a problem with EP 1.8.65 with the an oddball named database that woun't work with EPA???
