Call For Feedback: CPAPAuction.com Improvement Suggestions
I'm very grateful for the site and all the work it must have taken to get it going. I did win one item so far and am awaiting delivery. I will then put feedback for that seller. I felt ok about the seller even though he had no feedback, but he did have a real address in my state so I was willing to take the risk for a good price on a mask I'd like to try.
But there were some other sellers who didn't even list where they were shipping from and without feedback I wasn't willing to take a chance.
I agree about the pictures. If the item is unopened and new, it's fine to see pictures from cpap.com, but otherwise I'd like to see a photo of the actual item or have no photo if they are not brand new. That can alert me to contact the seller for more info.
I don't have any items to sell currently, but hope to do this in the future. I have bid on two masks so far and won one of them. I will more likely bid on items posted by forum members that have done some posting for a few months.

Hi
I have not used cpapauction yet because I don't have the $$ at the moment for the machine I want, but I think its a terrific idea. It will be great when some sellers get a track record. I think its great that you manage the rx's so that's not an issue. Thanks for doing this.
here are some suggestions:
In the "Buy" page listings, make the thumbnail either smaller or list without thumbnails but with the option to click to see them. This would make pages load faster for those on s-l-o-w connections, also would leave more room to list important stuff like the sellers name, and location shipping from.
I also agree with previous posters about pictures, please do not use stock pics. Either a real actual picture of the item being auctioned or no picture at all. If the seller wants to put a link to stock pics ok, but please do not mis-represent the item by pictures that could be misleading.
The links in the categories section do not always work for me by left clicking. I find I have to right click and then click "open" in order to get pages to open.

Perhaps you could have a "suggestions" page for new sellers. Here are some suggestions:
List where they are shipping from. If they are not willing to divulge location, I would not buy from them.
If they have no track record (are not a cpaptalk regular) and are accepting only "check or postal money order" they should consider PayPal. I would not buy from someone with no track record who only wants check or postal money order, even if the price is low. I know that PayPal is no guarantee, but, as I understand it, there's some protection if you don't receive the item.
If someone emails the seller with a question and they put a phone number in the email, along with an address, this helps inspire confidence.
Others here may have some other things to add for sellers who want to increase their sales.
I don't like the "reserve not met" in general. I don't know how others feel about it. It's kind of like I'm guessing at what the person's starting price is and so I tend not to bid on those as readily. I'd rather they just start with whatever their lowest acceptable price and let people bid from there.
Will there be a feature for "Buy it now for . . ." I've used this on Ebay when I don't have a lot of time to bid if it seems like a fair price to me. It's nice to have this feature IMHO.

I can't bid because the sleep center will not give me a copy of my prescription ... got the letter of medical necessity, the sleep report, and every other miscellaneous piece of paper regarding my OSA, but they will not give me my rx. When that changes, I'll be bidding.johnnygoodman wrote:I'd appreciate your two cents in free form or using the following questions as a guideline.

They HAVE to. Just like a regular physician, optometrist or whatever. You have the right to have your prescription filled at the place of YOUR choice.Susanm wrote:I can't bid because the sleep center will not give me a copy of my prescription ... got the letter of medical necessity, the sleep report, and every other miscellaneous piece of paper regarding my OSA, but they will not give me my rx. I had a similar situation. I told the sleep lab they would hear from my lawyer who has better knowledge of HIPPA law than they did.
It worked!
BTW, I don't have a lawyer.

Yeah, if that sucker isn't in my mailbox when I get home from work, they are getting the (nonexistant) lawyer letter from me too. I used to have optometrists who did the same thing. Very annoying and unprofessional.

In your listing template, it would be a good idea to have people list actual machine hours on the used machines. This is a major factor in buying a used machine but I didn't notice it prominently displayed on the machines I looked at.
Also, thhere seems to be a bit of a glitch when I log in, it requires me to log in, but then says I'm already logged in. Just a tad confusing, but not preventing me from logging in.

Very glad to see cpap Auction. I'm sure I'll be a regular in a few months. In the meantime:
I haven't used cpap Auction because:
1) I haven't anything to sell
2) I've been looking, but can't decide what the next mask I try will be.
3) I'm wary of buying from sellers without feedback. Hoping that by the time I decide what I want there will be some.
4) I'm very concerned regarding JeffH's experience with refusal to combine items into one shipment.
Another concern is the navigation. If I select, say, nasal masks, and then click on an item to look at it, when I backspace to return, I am sent either to the All items page, or to the first page of all masks. It seems pretty random, but after a few repetitions of starting over I lose interest...

I have no needs at the moment.
I have no $$$ ( or job ) at the moment
I have nothing to sell at the moment
I do plan on keeping an eye on things as they come and go, but can't bid yet. Also would like to see more feedback on sellers.
cheers

The auction site is a great idea. I looked through it early on, as I would like to try some different masks and maybe have a backup machine. However, it seems the sellers were only talking about shipping within the USA. Also, the Rx less than 12 mths old I don't have. I thought I might need to make a appointment with my sleep specialist to get a new one, and I don't particularly want to do that. Maybe they just give new ones without an appointment?

I know the policy says "cannot change after posting and have a bid." I posted a UMFF mask and did not at that time understand the listing procedure so tried to list it WITH HEADGEAR ..Now its on the auction block as a UMFF mask only and that is not as it should be. Headgear should be added the bidder and indeed other bidders have the wrong picture of it and I can't do a darn thing about it.....When I hit search it only brought up Ultra Mirage full face mask. and I could not add head gear to it.. Could you.. It is being bid on as a mask only...not true it also has the headgear.
Is there some way to add a note if we see something that would inhance the item like a added not.. Ebay does..
Unlike Ebay the postage is not padded , inflated, larger than the object which I think is terrible and hinder me from doing all that I would like to on Ebay. I thinkik the postage should be calculated ALWAYS..I spent $50.00 over and above the cost of postage/items just last week on Ebay..I know I could just walk away....

YES having the ability to add comments or even a preview might HELP the SELLER & save confusion / conflicts with buyers...... AUTO Postage calculation when bidder puts his ZIP CODE in / auto added to TOTAL COST... I hate paying for the sellers time to go to post office or find a box????needingu wrote:I know the policy says "cannot change after posting and have a bid."
