I really don't like that program... But I hopefully it helps bring awareness to OSA since they've got a participant who is willing to let everyone know about it.

On the last season, the guy who ended up winning was using a CPAP machine. I think I read that he ended up not needing it anymore.

I like watching the show although I prefer the "special edition" shows more because it's more realistic by having the two families at the ranch for a week and then they go home for the entire competition until the end. Their overall weight loss wasn't nearly as high as the regular show, but their results were what one would expect when exercising and eating right.

They had a "where are they now" show last week that I TiVo'd but haven't watched yet. I think there was an article in Time magazine last month that showed one of the guys who had lost a lot of weight but then gained most of it back. Which, if you aren't exercising eight hours a day, eating around 800 calories plus sitting in the sauna prior to weigh-in, that's bound to happen. (How realistic is it to lose 20 pounds in a week and expect to keep it off?)

I am amazed at how many people use the CPAP machine. I swear that for every ONE person I mention it to, they know at least two or three people who have this. My brother, my mom's brother and my mom's sister have it in my family.

If I could leave my daughter for that long I would go on the biggest loser in a second. Not even a second thought. I cant seem to stop gaining. I have cut my calories in half, cut out all fast food, and started walking 2-3 miles a day. Yet I still managed to gain 4 pounds this month.

I certianly does not shock me that any of them have SA.....and I dont doubt that for every one of them on CPAP there are at least 2 or 3 that dont even know they have apnea. I watched season one....now I am wanting to see this one just to see the cpap. lol

Richard Gere (from officer and a gerbil) was on Conan the other night, he apparently uses a CPAP.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

If Gere can admit to CPAP, what next?
I can just picture that cutie in a mask.

Forgot to say....

I always enjoy the Biggest Loser. I did see the reunion show and many of them had gained back 20 to 40 lbs, but none were nearly as big as they were before. For some of them it has been 3 years and at least a few of them have become personal trainers.

I would not mind going on the show but having to stand there in the beginning in Spandex bottons and a sports bra would just kill me!

I also have plantars fasciitus and I KNOW I could not do some of the moves they would require.

However.....if I could get BOB to encourage me I would try. Bob is a Cutie and such an inspring person.

How long have you been on CPAP? I was the same way for years before I started and for the first few months after I started, then I hit month 4 of CPAP and bam! My metabolism righted itself and I started losing weight. I joined Weight Watchers and in the first 2 weeks I lost 1 pound, then I hit my 4th month on CPAP and in the 5 weeks since then I've lost 10 more and I'm also obviously building muscle. I've lost a full clothing size already.

It wasn't like CPAP = weight loss, but before it seemed like even with doing things "right" I was still gaining weight, and now that I'm still doing things right, I'm starting to lose it.
