I couldn't believe it helped so much!

Post by dieselgal » Mon Sep 10, 2007 1:58 pm

After 6 months on the hose I have to report in again and let others know that there is hope. I have been absolutely faithful to my ResMed Elite for 6 months now. There have been nights that my mask bugged me or I still wake up more than I want or just can’t get into the rhythm of air blowing in my face, BUT I still wore the darn thing.

ANYWAY…..2 nights ago I had a very bad night probably because I took my meds at the wrong time and they were keeping me up. So about 4 a.m. I pulled off my mask and decided to just try to nap for the next hour or so without CPAP.

Boy was that a mistake. I hadn’t realized until that moment how much the machine really is helping me. Without my machine I woke myself up several times snoring and tossed and turned several times. At 5:30 I got up, put the mask back on and dozed for another half hour.

I now know that they machine helps me more than I realize. I also know that the CPAP is WORKING for me and even a bad night now and then can’t always be blamed on SA sometimes you just have a bad night!

Thanks to everyone on the board I learn more everyday and appreciate my equipment and what it does for me.

I have only been a hosehead for about two weeks now, but I have noticed a major difference! I can't seem to sleep more than seven hours though. However, when I wake up I am fully rested and don't feel like I could sleep anymore.

I have been on the hose for about 6 weeks. Same here, I function much better with the hose than without. Still not perfect but much better.

I have been on faithful to my machine for at least two weeks now. There have been days that I wake up refreshed and ready to go, and a few where I need more sleep. Not because of the machine, but because I don't get the full 7 hours. Between the kids and my finace, sometimes it is hard to get more than 5 hours sleep. But, I have to note, my finace is in a wheel chair, and can't do much for herself.

LOLOL!! I think it should be mandatory that after about 5-6 weeks as a hosehead, you should be required to take a night "off da hose" just to show you how well it IS working!!

I spent the better part of a week off the hose while my APAP was being replaced (after 2 years of constant use). WOW! Did I ever feel like ...well, I usually don't use those words! LOL

Keep on 'PAPing!

Wow I"m close to 2 months on cpap now already, time does fly! I do feel a lot better. In that time I only spent 2 nights off of it due to sinus surgery. I've taken tips from a lot people here and am setup with Pur-sleep, Pad a Cheek covers, a card reader is coming, and I will have 3 totally different kinds of masks to cover any situation that might arise!

It gets even better! The bad nights will become fewer and fewer, and you will sleep soundly through the night for the amount of sleep required by your body. That may not be 8 hours, but you'll know when you stay awake and alert between morning and bedtime. If it can happen for me, it can happen for all of us! Hang in there.

Congratulations! It's so great, isn't it.

I've been on mine since the end of April and can't believe how many changes I'm still noticing. I've never been a night without it. I did fall back to sleep after waking once and taking it off, and that was enough to convince me.

It's been about 2 months for me and I notice my body aches are pretty much gone. that was my biggest complaint before, I guess I didn't realize how groggy and tired I was before. I have been sick with pneumonia so the last 3 weeks have been rough, but I am gonna make it. I still get tired in the afternoons and need a nap sometimes, but I don't think that is entirely the OSA. I own a restaurant and am very active in running it, so I get up at 4:30 AM so I guess I feel tired because I should feel tired. We have some really busy lunches and I run my butt off.

I came home for lunch one day last week, with a stomach ache. I took some Pepto and laid down, planning to just lay quiet and hope it passed. I instinctively put on my mask, and actually fell asleep! I was suprised, because I'm FAMOUS for my INABILITY to nap, even when exhausted. I just toss and turn, but never actually sleep.

I was so comfy, I stayed down for an hour and a half and had to force myself out of bed and go back to work. Luckily they all knew I wasn't feeling well that day. Oh, and the stomach thing passed. Gosh knows what that was.

LOL,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Started CPAP in April and still trying to get more than 5 hours with the mask. Don;t mind the air blowing up my nose but, I am yet to find a mask that actually works for me. I can't stand full face (just to hot) pillows never fit right and if i could just find a nasal mask that fit and didn't leak I would be good to go. I keep hearing Soyala is a good one but don't have the money to buy new so maybe someday one will come up for trade. SO for now it is me and my F&P 406!

Only been using the machine since August 14th, but I can already tell a difference. So far been through 2 nasal masks the F&P406 (leaks like a sieve no matter how I adjust), and the ComfortGel Petite. They both give me front teeth pain the the CG the worst. I either get real bad mouth pain or bad mouth pain and sore nose...) I totally had my 2 night experience without the machine already when my first machine dropped pressure for the for the second time and I had to get it replaced. I'm suppose to be getting an OptiLife tomorrow when I go in to my R.R.T./DME to turn in my Oximeter and get the results.

I had liked the F&P 406 was so light compared to the ComfortGel if only it didn't leak so bad on me, or cause my teeth to hurt.

Hopefully the OptiLife will do the trick for me Now if only my lungs would stop hurting... Starting to think that it might not just be the pressure causing it, kind of feels like I'm starting to get bronchitis.

Christy,

My lungs hurt a bit in the morning too. Almost as if they haven't expanded enough or something. After some deep inhales they seem fine.

AdmiralCougar, lemme know if you want to test drive a Nasal Aire II. I run a little "test drive" program for that. I ship it to you, you test it out, if you like it, you have to go buy your own. But it's relatively FREE, I just charge postage cost.

I can't PM you when I'm logged in at work, so I'm telling you here. Feel free to PM me, and I'll check it after work.

Cheers,
Barbara/Babette
