I CANNOT SLEEP ANYMORE !
i need to take ambien now or else i dont sleep.
am i broken? ive been trying different substitutes to get some sleep before I went to the doctor and got ambien.
Chamomile Tea
Benadryll
Melatonin
Valerian Root
all the above together.
Then went to the doc and he gave me Rozerem.
Doc told me it takes 10 days before it works properly.
Nonsense.... it kept me awake, I had to stop at 5 days because I nodded off while driving.. thats bad news.
Lastly I was given Ambien CR. WOW it works, but if you stop taking it better have somthing to do all night cause no sleep.
Now im broken. I dont know if its my mind that doesnt shut up even thought i make it shut up. I just lay there with my eyes open and CPAP going.
Insomnia sux... always had it too. I think im just a night person and nothing will change that. I could stay up till 3, sleep till 11 and be okay. This early morning work thing is the pits. 6am I have to get up. Good thing im not a farmer... cause the chickens would starve and milk would sour. i duno nothing about farms, don't ya gotta milk the cows in the morning?
I am broken ??? cannot sleep anymore
I hope farmers don't start taking sleep drugs, milk is high enough now.
Drugs are a poor solution, except for the sellers. It's best not to get hooked on them despite the hype,"The're not habit forming". It makes for good Ad's, but doesn't do much for truth. Jim

Andyomega - Have you tried 'Mindful Meditation' (Jon Zinns)? My mind works overtime at night, too. It's a technique that teaches you how to relax and when a "thought" comes into your head, to dismiss it. You acknowledge the thought and then release it. Don't just try to ignore it.
Another little trick that works for me is - count your breaths. Do not attempt to control or change them. Just count your exhales. Count 5. If you're still awake, start back at 1 and count 5 more. If you lose your place, begin at 1 again and count 5 more. Never go past 5. I usually have to do this about 3 or 4 times, then I can sleep.
However, if you've seen my other posts, this hasn't worked since I started to try my machine. (Just diagnosed)
Good luck.

The best thing I ever did to encourage sleep was remove the TV from the bedroom. Then if you still lay awake with your mind racing a good trick I use to use was to think of something I really loved. If my mind starting darting around I would focus on one thing that was really exciting or important and think of that one thing. It sounds odd but by focusing on one very good thing it sometimes lets you NOT think of lots of stupid things and before you know it you might fall asleep.
I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

I've heard that Ambien is extremely addictive! My mom was given some before her sleep study. But the doctor told her if you ever took it for five concecutive days, you have a very hard time of going to sleep without it. She took one the night of her study and never took any more. You might want to talk with your doctor if you're trying to get off of it.
