If you are taking the small oxygen bottles, like the M6, check to see what the operational ceiling is. On mine, the owner's manual said 0-69,999 should not be used above 5280 ft. The RT at Apria asked me where I heard such a silly thing.....I told her the owner's manual. Her attitude was poor.

Regardless of the type of bottle, I would confirm with the head person in the RT department. Sacramento is 25 feet MSL, so 5280 feet was not a problem.
The same lady knew I was taking I-80 to Denver, then showed her IQ by asking me where I thought I would go that was above 5280 ft. I told her the pass over the Sierras was over 7,000 ft.

Just check it out. Internet, what ever. Have a great trip. My ancestor helped blaze the Loving-Goodnight cattle trail. Another famous gunfighter you can look up is Cock-eyed Frank Loving. TRUE story, I gotta tell it. A man is making eyes at his wife, they end up staring at each other with a pot bellied stove between them. From about ....I forget, 10-15 feet apart they both emptied their revolvers. Frank walks around, gets a piece of firewood and hits the other guy in the head. Hang in there, this is CPAP stuff. This was in the Long Branch Saloon, in Dodge, Kansas. The black smoke was so thick, by one account, the other guy did not see Frank unhook his CPAP,
walk around the pot bellied stove and smack him in the head with the firewood.
As sheriff Bat Masterson walks in, Frank is reloading and proceeds to kill the semi-conscious guy on the floor. Self Defense...and Frank went on to develop the first algorithms for CPAP. He was killed in another gunfight, rumor has it was either over his wife again, or the patent rights to the algorithms. That is the God's Honest truth, give or take a lie or two

You are welcome. The story is true, the CPAP thing was tossed in for those without a sense of humor

Have a good train trip........

I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

Great story! I enjoyed it very much! Stories get much better when a little poetic license is used!

All the best!

What a great story!!!! I love it. Fortunately, I'm not on oxygen so I don't have that to contend with (I don't know if that's fortunate or not!). Anyway, I'll just turn the cpap all of the way and see what happens. I don't think I'll blow up or anything.

I can hardly wait until Saturday!!!!!

When I was working out the battery pack details for in-flight use of a Resmed S8 Lightweight, I made energy measurements at the "sea level" range and 2400 metre (~8000 feet) maximum altitude range settings of the S8.

I don't have a manometer to measure the exact flow pressure but from both the energy consumption readings and the "feel" of the flow, it seemed that the S8 was using dleivering a flow rate equivalent to about 3cm H20 higher than the sea level setting when it was set for the 2400m range.

In other words, when the S8 was set to 14cm H20 and was operating at sea level, but with the altitude range set to 2400m, it was actually dleivering about 17cm H20.

So if you had to make a completely manual altitude-range-like adjustment for 2400m elevation, it seems that about 3cm H20 is a good starting point in terms of assumed normal "sea level" settings.

Cheers,

Bill

I talked with the DME that sold me the machine and he said that for a 6,000 foot elevation change (which is approximately the difference between Dallas, Texas and Durango Colorado), I should multiple my current rate (which is 12) by 1.22 which comes out to be about 14. I'll try raising it to 15 if 14 isn't working for me. I don't think it is going to be that much of a change. I was afraid I would have to raise it to 18 or something like that! Thanks for all of the advice and help. The people on cpaptalk rock!!!!!!
