I've read that ACV helps Gerd because ACV is essentially acid. Often gerd is a result of low acid levels in our belly. ACV helped me! I can testify that ACV works as good as Prilosec. But, I couldn't handle the taste. I will barf if I smell ACV! I could hardly handle the pill version with it's subtle smell. I've switched back to Prilosec and can't go a day without it.

While it does fix Gerd, being able to consume it daily, is a different story. If you can do it, good for you. I couldn't! YUCK!

There are many many benefits from ACV! I wish I wouldn't have ruined my ability to handle it. It's like Gin. I got sick off Gin one time many years ago and can't still can't handle today... lol

Well I am just going to have to try some of these ideas.

*Jen - I make that exact recipe all the time, learned it from my mother. I was born and raised in San Diego.

I have read the post about GERD but never paid too much attention to them until now. I'm hurting - all day. what a bummer.

I do get heart burn so I take priolsec for it but it didn't help either today with the air and tums galore no help.

Guess I best refresh myself on all the post.

You can have an ulcer and that will "burn" all day long, Tums or prilosec may not help that (prilosec would if you took it every day for like 6 weeks, it would allow it to heal), but then you have to hope it isn't a peptic ulcer and burns a hole through your stomach because that can be fatal. In other words don't let that go too long without seeing a GI specialist.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

A friend of mine uses ACV, honey and water. Keeps it bottled in the frige and gulps down a shot glass of it every morning. My husband and I did it for awhile until I read something negative. (don't remember what) I grew up in Maine..ACV vinegar sat on the table along with the salt and pepper...it was a staple. never knew there were other types of vinegar until I married a flatlander. I love ACV on fiddleheads, dandelion greens and cabbage.

I have some old books called "FOXFIRE BOOK" Has about every antidote used up to the point they were written...including how to plant by the signs, hog dressing, cabin building, snake lre, faith healing, moonshinig and other affairs of plain living! Friend from Virginia gave them to me. I will look and see if their is a good, palletable vinegar recipe...NO NOT MIXED WITH SHINE!

One soldier described MARION as an "ugly, cross, knock-kneed, hook-nosed
"so and so". MARION worked on his soldiers to appear more soldierlike,
even having the men on guard duty powder their hair.

Another thing that changed MARIONS's personal habit was the regular
portions of vinegar to be issued to the regiment because of its
medicinal value.
It was said this became his favorite drink , a mixture of vinegar and water, a brew some called the "drink of the Roman soldier".
Check out the biography of Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Continental Army and later brigadier general in the South Carolina Militia during the American Revolutionary War. He is still thought of highly in South Carolina.
