Have been on CPAP since Dec 2005. I still have very active dreams, sometimes several times a night. I was wondering if there might be some correlation between OSA and active dreams.
My pressure was set at 11 and thought that maybe that might be part of the problem.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I've had very vivid dreams before xPAP and after. Before I had very off the wall, crazy dreams that made no sense whatsoever! When I woke up, I could only remember bits and pieces of them and they were totally nonesense! I always wondered if they were caused by the disruptions to REM sleep because of the apneas. I had about 56 apnea events an hour during innitial sleep study while in REM. I was hoping that xPAP would "calm them down" a bit. They aren't any less vivid, but they do make more sense now.

Wow, I have been on CPAP for three weeks now and only the last two days have I had such vivid dreams and can recall them.
Last night I was dreaming about the hose clip that came with my Optilife. Weird, I know. I dreamt that I found a hose with like five clips on it and proceeded to remove one of them because I was thinking I need another one. Well when I awoke, I had a hose clip in my hands, clutching it even.
It was mine!

Yea, if I remember dreaming, then I'm assured I went into REM. That's a good sign.
I've also heard stories of other hoseheads dreaming and their xPAP machines become a part of it. The only time I tried to take off my mask in my sleep, I was dreaming about something being over my face, then I tried to unclip the headgear from the mask. That woke me up and I put it right back on. I haven't done it since!

I'm sure having Sleep Apnea as a kid actually made me remember an event that happened when I was two... I kept having nightmares about going camping with my family. My brother had this fishing pole he wouldn't let me touch. Well I was sent with my Older brother of 14 and my Dad while my mom was cooking. My Dad went off to chat with some people up stream and my Brother Cast his rod and jammed it in rocks about 2 feet off the shore in the water, and went off to do who knows what. Well seeing that elusive fishing pole oh so close in my grasp and no brother around to stop me I reached for it, and whoops slip and fall into the river. I'm carried down river underwater trying to get to the surface. Then Suddenly a couple in a boat plucks me out of the water.SisterShotgun wrote:Before the CPAP I would just have dreams of drowning..After CPAP WOW!! I have dreams all the time and many are really interesting, very active and I can remember most of them..I was told that it means I am getting into a deep sleep which is a good thing.
After having this dream for years I asked my mom if I ever almost drowned in a river. She goes oh yeah. Seems I floated about two miles down river and was plucked out by a couple rafting. They carried me back searching for my parents. She said she about beat the living daylight out of my father for not watching me too...
But yeah I'd been having tons of dreams about drowning or suffocating before I was diagnosed with OSA as an Adult. Though being on the BiPAP for almost two weeks now I have yet to have a dream and remember it.
