Encore Pro 1.8i Release 2

Post by jskinner » Sat Aug 18, 2007 1:39 pm

Some one tipped me off to the fact that there is a second release of Encore Pro 1.8

The version that I use is 1.8.49 and apparently the new version is 1.8.65

Anybody have any idea what been changed in 1.8.65? Maybe a fix for the Vista Areo glass problem?

James,

I have been using the second edition since shortly after it came out on 6/27/07. I have been using it with Windows Vista Home Premium with no problems at all. It does not force me to use the non-Aero screen like one or two of my other applications do.

Unfortunately, have not tried a previous version, so I don't know what changes have been made. I don't think there are any additional "features" in the latest version.
I do so love to breath!

Being the upgrade-step freak I am, it sure would be nice to have the new version... maybe.

I'm thinking about upgrading to Vista, but one of the things holding me back has been whether or not Encore 1.6 works with it, and if it doesn't, how to get a copy of 1.8 or whatever does.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

billm, No 1.6i won't work with Vista. 1.8i is suposed to but I have not tried it yet, I really don't want to go to Vista any time soon if I don't have to. Would love to know what the second edition of 1.8i changed. I really did not think any one would ever see the second edition since they seem so intent on keeping it from the end user who is the one who really needs it. Just looked and mine is 1.8.49 Anyone who finds a source for 1.8.65 I would like to know where but only on PM. Please don't post so that guy can come on the board and post his "Not for Long" message!

So far, I have not experienced any "missing days" with release 2.

Think twice about upgrading to Vista. A LOT of software has problems with it, and mine is less reliable than WIN98.

It is "made for gaming", but most games have problems with it.

They also removed some OS stuff that allowed you to use EAX 3D sound!
Creative labs made a special program (Creative Alchemy) to offset this.

When you buy a lot of hardware, it may not come with Vista Drivers. I had do order a special disk for my sound card.

Vista? Yeccch.

Missing drivers and application compatibility problems is typical for a major OS upgrade. This is not a new problem and shouldn't be supprising, every OS have these issues. They will be resolved in time. If your system is really less reliable Vista then win98 you might consider the possibility that you have a hardware problem.

Over the years, from my observations, it's always seemed to take about 3 years for a new OS to come to maturity......or find out it's a worthless POS (NT, ME, 2000).

I'll wait for XP to be made obsolete or Vista to "mature" (or go by the wayside).

I still have several machines with virtually "bullet-proof" installations of Win 95 on them.....unfortunately, even though everything on them still runs just fine, they've been made obsolete.

I'm not sure what you mean about NT and 2000 being a POS? Both where very successful in their target market (there where never intended or marketed directly to consumers). NT basically single handedly destroyed the Novell Netware market, its pretty hard to say that that was not successful.

Not from where I've been sitting for the last 11 years. And, I've never been particularly fond of Novell, either (but I'm stuck with it). I think they ALL "suck" in their own various ways.
