Potential sticky situation - please help!

Post by Jeanie821 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 3:46 pm

This February, I'll be going on my third annual Valentine's cruise for Christian singles. Last year I roomed with a total stranger, but CPAP was not an issue then. This year I roomed with two other women, one of whom I became friends with last year (in fact, Trish was one of the people that tipped me off to my having OSA - thanks, Trish, you're literally a lifesaver!).

Trish and I are supposed to be rooming together on next year's cruise, but I just got an e-mail from her stating that she's having money problems, and I have a sinking feeling (no pun intended) that she may not be on the cruise next year, and I'll be back to rooming with someone I don't know - and doesn't know I use a CPAP. I'm already self-conscious about this, and I can't afford a single room. What's a hosehead to do?

Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Typically when you sign up for something that requires matching of roommates, the organizers will ask if there are any special considerations they should take into account when matching (e.g., smoker, night owl, early bird). You should indicate on your registration that you use CPAP, and with luck, you might get matched up with another hosehead, or someone who is used to sleeping with a hosehead.

Tell them if they think the machine is bad, they should hear you snore!

"(in fact, Trish was one of the people that tipped me off to my having OSA - thanks, Trish, you're literally a lifesaver!)".

As a way to thank "Trish" and help her out at the same time, you might consider organizing a bake sale, or some other form of fundraiser. What a nice gift that would be!

I second Cliff's suggestion.

If you can work out a way so that Trish can go, your problem is solved, and your friendship deepened.

What a great way to let Trish know how much she means to you as a friend.
