Bug Up My Nose

Post by Babette » Sun Aug 19, 2007 1:04 pm

Okay, I joined the club last night. I think it was a teensy spider - I'm inundated with them right now. I never saw it, but I felt it, and grabbed the mask off right quick, snorted, and shook the mask out.

I laid there thinking of how to keep critters out of my mask in the future. In the morning, I just pull the mask off, and lay it on my pillow, still attached to the hose. It lays there all day till I come back to bed. I don't like the idea of a ziploc - the plastic will trap any moisture in there and make mildew and bad smells.

I remembered I have a small lingerie washing bag. It's a very fine polyester mesh fabric, with a drawstring top. It's small, so I rarely use it. It's perfect. I pull it over the mask, and draw up the drawstring around the main hose joint, and pull the cordlock tight.

The mask can breathe and dry all the accumulated condensation, and the critters can't get in.

Anything small enough to get into that mesh will most likely be aspirated unnoticed.

At least I hope so!

LOL,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Oh my gosh! I would freak out if I blew a bug up my nose. This is one club I have no desire to join! Yuck! We have black widows in my area. They are particularly bad this year, but I haven't seen any inside. I hate spiders! Now I'm going to have to hunt down a mesh bag too.

HA HA! Sorry...

Lemme know if you don't find one. I've got a supply of mesh fabric here I bought to make my own, then found some while helping clean out a friends house, and never made them. I can pop that in an envelope to you. PM me your addy, by the way.

I've also got a pile of cordlocks I bought for various uses. I can toss that in with it.

Cheers,
B.

PANTY HOSE are your friend!

I cut a leg off a pair of panty hose, disconnect the mask from the hose, slide the panty hose over the hose, reconnect mask. Now in the morning you can just pull the panty hose over the mask, give it a little twist and fold it under. Or if you're paranoid, close it up with a rubber band.

Oh there ain't no bugs on me
No there ain't no bugs on me
There may be bugs
On some of you mugs,
but there ain't no bugs on me!

BEST LAUGH OF THE MORNING!!!!!

Yardbird, I'm looking at your Avatar and envisioning you dancing around singing that song!!!!!

I think I'll try this. With the NAII, I just need to cover the cannula. A little sock would be sufficient.

Thanks Yardbird!!!!!

Beauty, I think I'll send you my little lingerie bag next week with that lotion I wrote you about. PM me your snail mail.

I'm off to test-drive a pantyhose "sock" for my NAII cannula.

I knew one of you forum freaks would get me using pantyhose one day.... I refuse to wear them to work anymore, I guess I should get some use out of that stash taking up room in the dresser drawer...

LOL,
B.

Okay, grabbed a knee-hi. For those of you men who don't routinely wear female undergarments, this is a sock made out of the same nylon pantyhose material, but it only comes up to you knees. Think Carol Burnette...

I pulled it on over the cannula of the NAII. It pushes the cannula in half, bringing the tubes together. I don't think that's a problem. Now, how to "seal" it? I rolled it down, and twisted the excess into a ball, and tucked the ball into the "cuff" created by the excess.

Nope. This isn't good. Still kind of a hole for small critters to crawl up.

I think I like my mesh bag fix better. Beauty, I think I'll experiment and maybe sew up some bags to send around to friends.

Chers,
B.

Avatar pic was taken in St Lucia on New Years 2005. My wife and I went to the island to celebrate 25 years together. I'd love to retire there. It's beautiful..... and I never slept so well.

How do you know it was a bug? Maybe it was just fuzz! Did you get it out???

I don't know it wasn't fuzz. I did appear to either get it out, or digest it.

It moved. It felt like it CRAWLED. Thus, I was pretty sure it was a bug.

Either way, fuzz or bug, the mesh bag should work.

Yardbird, when you retire to St. Lucia, ask your wife if you can have a fat grumpy housemaid and then PM me.

I think I'd be okay wearing the "Alice" uniform from the Brady Bunch. I already have her hairstyle...

LOL,
B.

OMG Babs... do you suppose this could be the source of your little white spots in your nose?

Bugs!!!

Not exactly what I want to think about right now.

I'm still traumatized from a business trip I took a few weeks ago.

I woke up as something ran across my face, and turned to see the largest cockroach I've seen anywhere other than on T.V.

My wife and I, and our youngest daughter, got a very nice meal from the hotel because of this experience, but even a good meal wasn't worth waking up with that thing next to me in bed.

Now to think of one crawling around in my mask, drifting up my nose . . .

That could make for a return to sleepless nights.

No! I think the spots are just normal spots. Go look in your own nose. I'll bet you see spots too.

LOL,
B.
