Has anybody ordered replacement filters on eBay?

Post by SanDigital » Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:56 pm

Hey everybody,

I'm out of filters for my Respironics M series Plus cpap machine.

I found a seller on eBay, Tina's Homecare, that offers replacement filters significantly cheaper than cpap.com. This is what I'm looking at:
eBay replacement filter auction

In the text, I noticed the words "comparable to Respironics 1029331". In other words, the filters are made by a third party, not under the guidance of Respironics.

Has anybody ordered these before? Is the quality the same as what I'd get if I ordered the "official" product? I had bad allergies and would like to filter out as much stuff as possible.

Why don't you ask this over on ebay's cpap "support group" for any assistance you might need with those ebay cpap purchases?

Oh you mean there isn't one of those?

so you come here to ask about ebay purchases? I suppose next week you will be back posting again what a raw deal you got on ebay and we have to hear all that.

My guess is that the E bay seller will charge S/H fees that are ridiculous. cpap.com $13 for 6 filters-order with my mask every 6 months- FREE S/H !!!!!
Exceptional customer service dept. Need I say more??

Why someone would take a chanch to save little and not get the correct part is beyond me. I like a fair price, but my health also enters into the soup. Jim

I purchased some from that ebayer last month and they fit perfect ad look as good as the original for my s8. I also purchased a few other things at the same time so I got combined shipping. She ships fast too.

What a rude response! I wasn't aware eBay was a verboten subject on the boards here...or is that just your rule? Perhaps you should make a post that outlines exactly what we can and cannot discuss here.

Shipping is free for orders over $100 only. For the filters, cpap.com wants $7.00 for s&h while the eBay seller only wants $2.95. In this case, cpap.com is the one with ridiculous s&h fees.

Just because something is OEM instead of a 3rd party manufacturer doesn't automatically mean better quality. For example, I bought a 3rd party replacement battery for my cell phone and it lasted twice as long as the OEM one. Another example...most of us buy generic medicine instead of the name brand ones. It's usually the exact same quality.

In this case, I didn't know, so I asked here to get some feedback. If the quality was inferior, I thought somebody might know.

Thank you very much for your response. It was very helpful.

Thanks also to those who responded to me via private message. So far, nobody has had anything negative to say this particular seller.

I just decided to buy from that particular seller today, before I even read this post. So we will see what happens! I'm not getting filters from her yet but that was going to be my next purchase.

I guess everyone likes to get a good deal and not the shaft. I ALWAYS compare prices and products.

I just purchased a new Optilife mask at a good price on eBay. I am always willing to save when I can and so I comparison shop all the time.
