NASAL MASK HELP

Post by packer » Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:02 am

Tried the comfortlite 2 nasal mask last night- not the pillows but the nasal mask
first time I have tried a nasal mask
I use the aflex at 8 to 15 -- anyhow-- I had some trouble falling asleep due to feeling of not getting enough air, but was tired after a very hard day and did fall asleep- I awoke about 2 hours later [unusual for me anymore, thank god!]
and felt like I couldnt get enough breath-
I simply changed back to the twilight NP and went back to sleep

so-- looking for some guidance from nasal mask folks

the nasal mask was comfortable and didnt leak- maybe I need to try the bigger one??
thanks-- packer

Can you confirm by means of a machine read-out (on the LCD) that it didn't leak and what pressure it was using?

If there's no leaking you shouldn't need a bigger one.

NASAL MASK

Post by packer » Wed Aug 15, 2007 12:35 pm

Home for quick lunch checked board

just downloaded- ahi 3.1 for the night

average leak 28 no large leak- cant see much difference from where I switched masks

I thought it was working OK-- just uncomfortable like there wasnt enough air or something- I found myself trying to "suck up" air with my nose

sounds weird I know-- thats why I was asking

thanks for any ideas packer

8 to 15 is a pretty big spread. I'd set it one number either side of you Rx pressure and see how you do. The BIGGEST mistake that people make about APAP (IMHO) is set it up with too big a range.

Good luck

And......if you're using Ramp on top of that pressure spread.....you'll really be starved for air.

I hear you guys about ramp and spread--

but why would this only happen with nasal mask and not with
the twilight NP-- dont get that feel with the np- thats what I am trying to figure out--
it must have to do with how air is delivered to you or??

anyhow-- maybe I will take out ramp tonight and try nasal mask again-
it was comfortable and didnt leak- results were OK- but it isnt better than
twilight

I wonder how many use pillows- and how many use nasal mask with comfortlite?? maybe I will try that tonight??
maybe I am silly to try others when doing pretty well with twilight??

thanks for ideas-- packer
